We're allowed to play on a Friday and be involved in the Saturday medal / comp, but can't enter both days.
Someone asked - must/should the pin positions be moved/changed slightly after the Friday comp, [ but keeping the course approx the same yardage ] to prevent people practising basically the same course on the Friday then playing in the Saturday comp , to the same pins.
I know you're not allowed to practice/play the course on the day of a comp.
Personally I can't see a problem in playing a bounce game on the Friday then the comp on the Saturday with the same pins
BTW , doesn't concern us as we normally play the comp on the Friday and whizz round in under 3 hours, Saturdays are too a long slog.
Opinions please on the practising on day before.

I'm not clear on what the situation is. Are there two separate competitions on Friday and Saturday but you are only allowed to enter one or the other, or the one competition with the choice of playing in it on Friday and Saturday? Where does the bounce game on Friday come in?

You can play on the course the day before a competition. You can play on the course on the first day of an alternate day competition when your competition round is to be on the second day. Pin positions are irrelevant.

Complete non issue.

Many clubs have the same pin positions for many days.

If you look at the reason for the rule it might help - it's more about the opportunity for those drawn earlier relative to later than the absolute opportunity to practice to the same pins.

Non issue.

Same competition both days, only allowed to enter once, but the course is open to everyone to play on the Friday.
I don't see a problem, but someone asked, and i wanted to be sure before i stick it to them :D .
I seem to remember a thread a while ago saying the tee and pin positions could be changed, but the yardages should be approx the same.

Our hole positions are changed every Friday and the monthly weekend medal is on a Saturday so anybody playing on Friday days knows the positions for the Saturday comp.

Similarly the holes are not moved until Tuesday so anybody who played Friday Saturday or Sunday knows the positions for the Monday comp.

Our comps are run over 2 days too, Saturday and Sunday. Partly because we can only play until 2pm on Sundays.
We are now allowed to enter the comp on Sunday if we've played on the course on Saturday but this is only in the last few years. Previously you couldn't enter the comp on the Sunday if you'd played Saturday.
Works quite well in all honesty

Previously you could have played on the Saturday and competed on the Sunday if your club had adopted the local rule stating that the play on Saturday was not practice in terms of Rule 7-1b. (I think it was 7-1b.!) The LR is now incorporated in Interpretation 5.2b/3.
