French elections, enlighten me

Well no apology for being lumped in with the likes of Westboro Baptist Church due to having Bible Belt views. None expected - none received - what have I got to complain about. Nothing.

Anyway - with Angela Merkel's CDU sweeping aside their main opposition the SPD in that parties heartland - looks like Merkel is set for a victory in the up-and-coming German Chancellor election.

So Mrs Strong and Stable fronted by Davey and The DExEUs will be up against an EU negotiating team backed up by the formidable strength of a Macron-Merkel EU axis. A pairing that are determined to ensure a strong and stable EU. What price the UK getting a great free trade deal with the EU...well I suppose nobody has yet proven that unicorns don't exist.

As i started this thread and am more than happy to continue it without goin off topic. Should the french and germans join forces. Well I suppose theres a first for everything. Secondly. History proves that the uk have done more for them two countries then they have ever done for the uk. Dont believe me. Ask yer mum and dad. Secondly.

Because France and Germany recognised and continue to recognise how crucial it is for their two great European countries to never get back to the places they have been in the past. They want history to remain in the past - but for the lessons to never be forgotten - the lessons that tell us what happens when Europe is fragmented with nation competing against nation.

Does this mean you will stop complaining.

I was not complaining about not receiving an apology. I thought one just might be forthcoming as some Bible Belt churches such as Westboro Baptist Church have quite obnoxious and repellent views that are at the opposite end of the Christian belief spectrum to mine - but no, one was not really expected so I just accept what cannot be changed, But some things can. And on these things I will continue to raise my concerns and questions of clarification.

We've been competing with every EU country on trade since forever. Being in the EU doesn't mean we don't compete for trade within the bloc.

But here's one on the Reuter's website. The EU, using a ruling from their puppet ECJ, wants to put a block in place, post-Brexit, to stop the UK dealing with 32 countries around the world. For example, they want to FORCE Singapore not to trade with us. They are approaching countries world wide and saying trade with the UK at your own peril, yet are telling the UK not to start trade negotiations with other countries till the exit is finalised.

That's your friendly EU.

That sort of thing could very well lead to a trade war.

Are you sure about that? All I can find on Reuters about Singapore is that the ECJ has said that the EU/Singapore free trade deal has to be approved by the national and regional parliaments of each individual EU member. The suggestion is that this will have an effect on whatever the UK/EU trade deal is post-Brexit as that would also need to be ratified and as a result could slow down us being to be able to agree a deal. I can't find anything to suggest that the EU are trying to stop other countries from trading with us.

I assume you'll concurrently apologise to the millions of Americans who live in the bible belt who also don't share views with the vile Westboro Church? You're looking to be offended. I've never once heard of "the bible belt" referring to Westboro.

Edit: in fact a bit of research. Westboro is in Kansas, a non "bible belt" state traditionally.

Unfortunately history has a nasty habit of repeating itself.

Indeed - the EU will play hard ball with their trading partners. Well in our genius we instigated this mess.

I know where Westborio is. It is unfortunate that the such as WBC are equated by some with some churches in the Bible Belt - and that churches in the bible belt holds views akin to those of WBC - albeit that they are usually milder versions of the views.

In any case - I'm interested to know what about what I say pops me into being a Bible Belter?

Unfortunately history has a nasty habit of repeating itself.

It does if you let it; if you do not learn from it; and if you repeat the same mistakes. Macron and Merkel recognise the importance of the EU in holding their two countries close together - to be mutually supportive rather than uncooperative, obstructive and difficult.

Complaining is an absolute personal right!

Different cultures have rather different attitudes about where and how it should be done!

As a demonstration of those differences, try reflecting on when and how complaints about the service and 'quality' (an order for medium-rare steak arriving as medium-well or vice-versa being a perfect test) are made in various countries!

I'll have a pint of whatever your drinking.
