does anyone know why I cannot see more than 30 threads? the main forum page says there are over 50000 threads

It is likely to be your "settings"

Go to Settings" then pick "General Settings" and then scroll down to to Thread Display Default (or something very similar) . You can then alter how many threads get displayed.

ALso if you click on a particular forum, it only shows todays posts but there is an option at the bottom to show more
