out of interest alone, what do people think are the most forgiving irons on the market, either through experience or what you have read/know?

Todays Golfer gave the Wilson Di7's an increadible right up and they are going for £239 in our old favourite American Golf. However, I think there are 5 or 6 sets that are helpful to the improving golfer.

Thats a good price, a lot of guys here rate them clubs . i never tried them tho

I have looked at them but to be honest I can't stand an oversize clubhead. I used to have a set of Brownings when I first started playing at a club but now oversize just look cumbersome and heavy. On the flip side I don't get any confidence from a blade style club either so for me it has to be a quality cavity back BUT NOT BLOODY COBRA FORGED CB's. But it is true what they say;

Better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

:D :D :D :D

The Di7 are a quality set of irons and very forgiving. Also I dont feel they look over sized.
If the price is for 4-sw you will not get a better deal on a forgiving set of irons.
However, the loft takes a while to get used to.

I tried out the Orka Kii irons (they actually got a mention in GM this month) and swapped my Di7s for them. Very forgiving but still maintain a good feel.

The TaylorMade CGB's were pretty good when I had a go with them. Probably TM's answer to the Callaways mentioned by MVP. Like the Callaways- uber ££

As I mentioned in an earlier thread the Missus likes The cleveland Hi-bore style hybrid-iron thing. Certainly seemed to get them off the floor more consistantly than with her current irons.

Fair price too.

I like my Ping Raptures as they give a lovely muted click off the face when well struck- but then I would wouldn't I - I bought them.

I'm sure much of it is what style of club you like and what you feel 'fits' you as much as what's good. let's face it , there aren't many rubbish clubs about nowadays. It's basically taste x budget x reputation x feel = new set of shiny irons.

...or something like that

Tommy Armour 845 oversize (2000).

That's why I'm selling them!

Probably Callaway.....not that I'm biased!

why the hell did the put the fat shaft into the DI7 i think they would be miles better with a normal shaft, i prefer the PI7 OR CI7 they look good

The Pi7 + Ci7 are so sexy, however, unless your a 5 or below handicap the Pi7 are not for you and the Ci7 are to bridge the cap between the cavity back easy to hit Di7 and the ultra sexy Pi7.

I like the fat shaft design, they are by far the most powerful clubs ive ever used.

i had the original fat shafts when i first started playing and couldn't settle with them, the look of the shaft was playing with my mind,it wasn't working for me, the di5 clubs were fair, i had them for a few rounds before trading them on another impulse buy

Personally I think the callaway x18s are very forgiving, used them once when on holiday not expecting to play but ended up sneaking a round in anyway and had to hire some clubs. They're probably the most forgiving clubs i've used anyway, althoguh i'm sure their is better out there.
