Hey Smiffy, what is the stuff that car dealers paint on tyres to make them look all black and new again, and can it be bought in small tins?

Who would want that? My car has two jobs..

Taking me to the supermarket/out for dinner

Taking me and golf clubs to the course

Thats all it is, a glorified Shopping/golf trolley

I use THIS stuff from Halfords DB.
I usually spray it onto a 2" brush and paint it on. Good stuff and lasts a while.
Always amazes me that people spend all the time washing and waxing their car, then leave the tyres dull and uncleaned.

A bit like wearing a top rate Armani suit and mucky shoes!

A word of warning. If you start getting into car detailing.. it can get very expensive.

I know what you're saying Lump.

I own a black Astra Sri. During the better weather it gets lots of love and attention lavished on it.
I've tried to steer clear of the detailing products available, preferring to stick with cleaning stuff available from Halfords and the like.

Spent a couple of days fettling last summer.
Pressure washed.
Lathered up with Auto Glym shampoo/conditioner
Rinsed and dried with drying towel.
Clayed, using Meguiers clay bar and lubricant
Washed again
Auto Glym polish applied and buffed up.

Next day.
Quick clean with Meguiers fast detailing spray.
Full wax with Meguiers carnuba wax.

The car was gleaming. Shame it doesn't last long. Having wax on the car does make it easier to clean as the muck doesn't stick to it as easy. Plus, when it rains, you get those oh so lovely beads all over the bodywork...... nice!!!

I know the pain of owning black cars:

My old ST170.. god I miss that car. That was after a morning session cleaning it. Was dusty by the time I got it home
I now own a black golf.
