As promised every Friday there's this weekly giveaway for the best/funniest/most tragic tale from your golfing CV.

We will mix it up but for this week, on a similar theme, can you delve into the recesses of your brains and give us your
all-time putting Mulligan so which putt would you like to take again?

Mine would be a 35-foot birdie putt at the 3rd at Headingley in 2007 which I somehow whiffed and double-hit and which
has subsequently meant that I've never hit any putt since that moment with a conventional grip - but still haunts me anyway

I had a fabulous couple of days with my son at Turnberry. Day 1 we played Robert the Bruce course. He had an off day, I had a good day. We play Stableford, I had a healthy lead.

Day 2, The Ailsa. Tougher course, tougher conditions. He reeled me back, good play by him rather than car crash by me. Last hole I'm 1 point up, head wind, rain is belting it down. He hits his approach to gimme range, even at this stage. I take an extra shot, he hits it longer, hit a good one to 3ft, very happy. I stand over the putt, he reminds me I need this putt to halve the whole weekend. It's a straight putt, the greens are true, it's The Ailsa so of course they are. I choke it, pull it left. It's not even a close miss, it was just horrible. It's belting it down but I can't move. Can I have it back? Still hurts me now.

Good place to do it, Tom Watson might say the same.

I played in a Captains Day comp as a pretty new member to a golf club. I’d never won any decent prizes before. On the par 5, 16th hole there was a prize for nearest the pin in 3 shots. I hit 2 lovely shots, driver and 3 wood to the heart of the green. The marker was about 20ft away and my putt was about 30ft. As I stood over the ball I was thinking about the prize and how all I needed to do was lag it up to the hole and no one would beat it. I must have hit the worst putt ever and didn’t even get inside the marker. Totally misread. The pressure must have got to me ?

It was a team putt by my matchplay partner of a few years ago that I'd love to do.

We were playing a 4bbb in our Captain/Pro comp, beat them and you go through to the end of season bash. On the 5th, a 125 yard par 3 my pp landed his ball on top of the first bunker on the left, he had the worst dose of chipping yips you'd ever see and I asked what he was going to do his answer was "putt it of course". Well, he got out his broom handle putter and hit it round ther perimeter of the bunker, initially away from the hole, it snaked round to the green went in 3 different directions and dropped in at perfect pace for a birdie to win the hole ??

The Captain (who was an arse) was furious and we went on to beat them 7 and 6 ??

I'd love to replicate that putt

I know you’ve suffered enough but can you explain how you misread it quite so much? Trust you made birdie

Playing in a society comp at my own club, unusually , a Medal.. Finally get back to my handicap net level at the 14th tee, quite pleased with myself. It is a sharp dog leg right Par 5 and most of us take it over the OOB to give a chance of getting on the green in two.
First tee shot sliced OOB. I’m a bit upset. Next tee shot (for 3) OOB. I’m really upset. Next tee shot (For 5) OOB, I’ve given up. Next tee shot (for 7) OOB. It’s now a game to take the corner carry on as much as I can. Next tee shot (for 9) OOB. I’m actually smiling as it doesn’t matter any more. Finally get one into play (for 11) . Well not exactly into play because I’ve hooked into a ditch. Take a drop (now playing 13) and lay up. Duff the next shot (now played 14). Hit the green for for 15 and two putt. Record 17 onto the card (smiling!) and set a new target to break 100.
At the prize giving, the Society introduced a special prize for most shots on one hole - a lesson with the Pro.
I did enjoy the lesson!

So you want to retake the putt for a 16? ??

This summer at boundary lakes.

Had been 7 points back on my dad with 4 holes to play. Get to the 18th 1 down. I stick it to the back of the island green. Dad proceeds to duff his tee shot, then hit his second into the drink (I still have the video).

He’s out of the hole. The greens had been super slow and I had a good 30ft, unfortunately I hit it a full 40ft to fits of laughter from my dad and @Wrighty001 as it sailed past the hole and off the green and into the water!

I was a new member at the first club I joined. Playing a matchplay event against another member I didn't know. I was 4 down with 4 to play, and as we were walking down the 15th, a distance apart, a friend of my competitor asked how he was doing in the sign language thing. He gave him the thumbs up (didn't see I saw it) and then they arranged to meet up afterwards.

So, after 18 we were tied, and going down the 1st he was obviously very embarrassed and quite stressed. I was probably a 19 and I think he was a decent cat 2/single figure player.

I played a very nice drive and he got into trouble. I can't quite remember what exactly happened until we were on the green, but I had a close putt to win and he had maybe an 8 footer to force me to make the putt. He then asked me to move my marker, which surprised me because it wasn't really on his line.

He missed and I conceded his next.

He didn't offer a concession, so of course, as a newbie, I just tapped mine in.

He was so worried about telling his mate he had lost, he let me do it and then let me know that I hadn't replaced my marker before I made the putt.

That loss taught me a lot, both about knowing the rules of golf and knowing what people are capable of doing to save face.

But there was also a postscript.

I changed clubs soon after, and invited one of my friends from the previous club to our invitation.

Unfortunately my friend had a bit of a heart scare at the range at his course the night before, decided he shouldn't play, and asked another member who was also there to fill in for him at short notice.

Yes, you can guess who turned up...

So, yes that would be my mulligan putt, but then again, if he had just conceded, there would be no story from an incident that happened over 20 years ago!

May 2019. Woburn. GM / TaylorMade forum day.

Playing a scramble with two forum members, and tour pro Ewen Ferguson.

Unbelievably, we had just used my 200 yard drive as the two forumites had gone wide, and Ewen had run out of fairway on a dog leg.

Two tier green. My ball on lower tier, pin in upper. Putted it to just short of the ridge. Ball rolled back to me, I didn’t move, and it finished about three feet behind me. Much amusement all round. Ewen laughed just a bit too much!

I took a day off work to play golf with my dad, but didn’t tell the Mrs (I’d played a lot in a short space of time).

My dad had his first ever hole in one, but I had to ask him to keep quiet about it so she didn’t know I was with him ?

few weeks later I couldn’t keep it from her so fessed up. Que a funny phone call to me dad and a few days in the dog house

Greensomes matchplay. Opponents putt to 2”. I jokingly say to my partner “should we give them that?”. Before he answers our opponents partner takes the putt and misses.
Horrified looks all round, made worse when we realise they had to make it to extend the match.
I have never wished an opponent could have a mulligan so much.

Haha, I’m not exactly sure to be honest. I think it was the excitement of winning a prize that quite quickly turned into not winning a prize. I turned a possible eagle into a 3 putt par

The putt I would like back the most, is playing in a think a medal, I had not broken par in a comp on 9 or 18 holes.

8 straight pars, 9th par 5, chipped to about 2 foot for a birdie putt. Putting twitches came back and missed it. Would like that putt again, not got that close since in a comp.
