I'm not disagreeing. What I am saying is, Di Maria AND Contrao PLUS 50 Mil sees Spuds get a player with more experience than Bale, the same type of player as Bale plus a player that is decent enough for that team. If the deal were true then I'm saying that Spuds would be getting a great deal.
 
Stekenelburg to fulham is a cracking signing. Will end up at Arsenal or Chelsea eventualy.

Interesting to see how Hooper gets on, hope he does well tbh, England could do with a no9. City have spent well, also think Chelski will bring a few through this season as well.

Only good bit of business we've done. We always seem to attract good keepers and move them. New owners but precious little sign on the chequebook. Jol is on record as wanting more strikers but not sure who we'll attract but there is no doubt apart from Berbatov we haven't anyone who can score. We miss Dempsey.
 
Think it is a good deal for Spurs if it is correct. Think Norwich have made some really good signings this summer. Van Wolfswinkel is potentially a real bargain. Arsenal have been their usual self with lack of transfers, having said that I would not have paid 34million euros for Higuain.

Doubt it unless we really screw up the Thibault Courtois situation. Be interesting to see how Lukaku does. Possibly our best bit of business was nicking Schwartzer on a free, much better cover than Turnbull & better than Hilario imo.

Rumour mill hotting up that Bent would choose Fulham over the toon, upfront with Berba roaming free just off him... Now that would be a good move. IF TRUE.

Letting Courtois go would be a bad move IMO what I have seen of him he looks a real quality keeper. Keeping Mata is another priority as well, letting him go would be suicidal
 
Football needs to crash & burn IMHO, figures being paid are actually disgusting, not the players fault for taking it, it is the end consumer that is paying for it, 10 years ago I used to have a season ticket watching 90mins of football, some good games some dire, decided I'd rather peruse a sport that I could compete in myself & enjoy....not been back since and rarely watch it & tbh don't miss it.

Each to their own.....

Couldn't agree more, although Hazard may be even better than Mata & if Jose can turn David Luiz into the player he can potentially be then he needs signing up long term. My concern with Courtois is the longer he settles in Spain the less he will want to leave.

We could be brothers! This is my view still follow the results etc and watch on tv when I can etc but have really stepped back. Put my money into myself and the golf.

Not sure if Hazard can be better as I think Mata is simply a stunning player and appears to be no trouble on or off the park? Luiz is a strange one really, if played in his best position sweeper? then he is reat other than that he is very error prone

Hazard is quicker, more two footed and more prone to the outrageous, which makes him a better prospect on the pitch, but I fully agree with your comment re Mata being lower maintenance. I think Luiz, if Jose could sort him, could play either defensively or in midfield, but his best strength could be in the dressing room; anyone that can motivate Frank Lampard in the Champions League final with 3 words has got something going for them, and John Terry won't go on forever.
 
Think this could possibly be Terry's last. Not saying Hazard is no good, far from it he is quality but will take a season or two more before the full potential is realised. Mata has won back to back Player of year awards I think? Chelsea have a real chance this season and would probably be the favourites for the Prem

Re Terry, you're probably right, one season left, two at tops. Not disagreeing with you that Mata is superb, and that Hazard is yet to reach his peak, but when both careers have run their course then I think Hazard might be viewed as the better player. I would be more than happy if we only had one of them, delighted that we have both.

Be interesting to see if JM plays 4 or 5 in middle. My pref would be 5 with hazard a free role, off torres or lukaku. Chelsea are my 2nd bet too win, as stupid as this may sound, I think anyone that finishes above them will win lge. Can't see them finishing lower than 2nd.

Houghton is a very good manager who got a rough deal at Newcastle.

I agree with this Norwich have done really well in their transfer signings. It will keep them in the League this season and Houghton has matured into a quality manager. Fair play and good luck to them. Maybe Houghton could teach Wenger few tricks!! :)
