Despite being a Spurs fan, I must admit I like both Lee Dixon and Martin Keown. Both are very articulate, Keown in particular. In addition I find them honest, constructive and credible. I must admit to liking Wrighty too, but more for his high spirited personality. (Hang on, I'm getting worried here...:eek:)

Although Roy Keane last night praised Lloris for his keeping, I was surprised when he said he didn't think much of goalkeepers, particularly as he played with a world classic in Peter Schmeichel. He really was a fantastic keeper who commanded his box and was a real presence. The only others whom I've seen right up there were Peter Shilton and Neville Southall when he was at Everton in the 80's. Southall was a definite factor that helped Everton win the league.

I'm not impressed with Keane as a person, so my views on his punditry are probably quite 'coloured'!

He's spot on about Schmeichel though! Probably the best all round keeper I've watched! Not only was he great at stopping shots, crosses (?) and in one-on-one situations, but he had the magic touch of it never being 'his fault'! If the opposition scored, it was always the (also extremely capable) defenders in front of him that were 'at fault' - and he absolutely let them know it!

As an (ex) goalkeeper myself I can promise you it is ALWAYS the defenders fault!:D

I think the problem with Roy Keane is, he doesn't know why he is there, he seems to thing he has to come across as angry and say something controversial every time he opens his mouth when the reality is people just want his opinion.

I like Gary Neville as a pundit. Never liked him as a player (even in an England shirt I couldn't stand him) but as a pundit I do like him.

I can't believe I said that, now I feel dirty and in need of a shower.

I find Keane to be just an angry and bitter man. I don't enjoy watching him.

Martin O'Neill used to be good fun when he did Euro's and World Cups. I still laugh at his comment about Gary Cahill, along the lines of "good on the ball, reads the game well, decent passer (probably a few more compliments) but can't defend and that it what he is there for". He said it whilst almost apologising. Unintentionally funny.

I like Dixon, no to Keown and Wright. Neville is good, yes I also feel dirty now, Shearer is poor, Scholes no thanks, not really a Carragher man either. Basically, I avoid pre match and go and do something at half time.

To be fair I do tend to like the summarisers on 5live. David Pleat, John Hartson, Graham Taylor when he was on.

I miss Hansen and if we really want to go retro bring back Saint & Greavsie :D.

Add me to that club

Does anyone know why he's there? Reminds me of the mother in law, just opens his mouth for the sake of it & very little coherent comment comes out.

I'd second that but don't feel the need for a shower.

I'd agree with almost all of that with the TV pundits, I'd only disagree with Scholes; possibly not the most erudite but not up his own backside either, unlike some.

Haven't really listened much to 5live but Pleat and Taylor usually annoy the hell out of me whenever they are on.

I quite like Chris Suttons comments, just like a fan, but he will get in trouble when he does live games as someday he's going to say something that he shouldn't.

I like pundits like - Murphy , Carragher , Scholes , Jenas , Keown and Dixon

Sometimes Neville is ok - Sutton I think sometimes sounds like he is trying to be contraversal , Smith is ok

Really can't stand - Hargreaves , Owen , Hoddle , McManaman , Savage pretty much the BT team are shocking to a man

Pleat is funny with his wrong pronounciations

Unfortunately i I agree with every word you say. Am off for a bath now.

However a Keano story.
years ago I had a good friend who was a bit of a scaly. Anyway he is at a nightclub entrance waiting for his mates who have gone to the lavvy before they go in the main club. This group of lads turn up and my pal pretends to be a bouncer. He tells them they cannot come in as a group of lads. My pal said he never saw it coming and this lad hit him with a haymaker. My pal was 6 ft 3 and 16 stone. His legs went but he stayed up and ended up grappling with this youth. The real bouncers separated them and threw pal out. The youth. Roy Keane, he had been at Forest about a year. My mate said he had been smacked a few times whilst following Liverpool, but this punch was up there with the best. Said it was a cheap shot, but Keano knew how to throw a punch.

Never like Lawrenson, any of the BT sport panel or Hoddle. I use to enjoy Andy Gray (before his indiscretions caught him out) and do enjoy Neville who seems very happy to give an opinion. Owen should be nowhere near a mike. I quite like Danny Murphy and think he talks a lot of sense

I can't stand David Pleat, he really annoys me. Steve Claridge is hopeless, but the worst of all is Stan Collymore, I can't stand the sound of his voice let alone the drivel that comes out of his mouth.

Agreed.
couldn't stand him as a player & didn't want to like him as a pundit, but he is good.
Carragher on the other hand is not so good.
