So I'm off to Orlando next month with the missus and her family and while I'm looking forward to the holiday and the mayhem of Disney I want to sample the best Orlando and its surrounding area has to offer regarding golf courses. Has anyone here played out there? I've been recommended Shingle Creek from a guy I play with at a weekend so I'll definately give that one a try, has anyone tried any of the disney courses? They look very easy to get to but would probably only play one of them but not sure which one to try. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm going to take my own shoes, balls and glove out there but I was told the clubs at most courses to hire are first class anyway so thats good.

Any other recommendations? I'm staying in Clermont in my mother-in-laws villa so if theres any hidden beuties around there give me a shout.

I will be visiting Orlando in September. Not played in the US myself but go to Orlando every year. The Legends at Orange Lake at the West end of the 192 highway is good. Check out www.playfloridagolf.com and www.orangelake.com Haven't been to Disney but it is the Magnolia course that has the par 3 over the water with the mickey shaped bunker that you may have seen on tv. Have also heard of a course at the opposite end of the 192 highway which is one day unlimited golf with range and food www.remington-gc.com/golf/proto/remington-gc/

Every one who goes to Disney plays the Magnolia, because it has been on TV. It is a nice course, but the Palm (same club house and car park) is quieter and a bit cheaper, and according to the starter is very similar in style. I have played the Palm.

I have also played lake buena vista, which was also really nice.

Could recommend either with no qualms at all. They are quite expensive though. Both have the best greens I have played in Florida (I go every easter and play a variety of courses over in Bradenton).

The other problem with the disney courses is getting there. The traffic is unbelievable, and so if you are not staying on site, allow a huge amount of time to get there for your tee slot.

The palm has Titlesit nxt tour range balls with mickeys ears printed on. About 7$. I kept a few as souveniers, and also played with them to avoid loosing my own balls. A bit pikey, but hey, that's me.

Think I'm definately gonna try a disney course, Does buena vista have decent practice facilities and club rental?? Think it might be there or Magnolia to be honest, So palm and magnolia have the same clubhouse then? did you rent your clubs or take your own? Also do the buggies have the GPRS like other US courses? thanks for info so far lads, if time allows it im gonna try out that remmington course, looks a great deal too and the course seems to be good.

Buggies didn't have GPS as I remember, but this isn't really a problem.

The club house at Palm / Magnolia was more of a Disney shop. No restaurant, ber etc, that I could find. Practice facility was good. Not sure about club hire, but I would be amazed if they didn't.

Club house at Buena Vista was better, and more like a golf club. Parking was more difficult. Didn't get much time to parctice, but facilities looked the usual. Disappointed the balls didn't have ears at LBV, as they make a nice souvenier.

I was on a golfing holiday, and so I had my own clubs. Better still, an old friend of mine works for Disney, so I got to play both courses for $30 each.
