Fitness and strength specific to golf

I don't want to be negative about the above 2 resources, because I have worked with Bob and the TPI.

However as good as these resources are, unless you are already in a good state of fitness (in terms of strength, mobility and movements patterns, rather than ability to run a marathon), most people would benefit far more from general basic exercises. Once they have developed well using these, then more specialist and golf specific exercises will come into their own.

Think of it like building a house, the fancy decorations and features may separate Buckingham palace from most peoples places, but these couldn't be put in place until the not so fancy foundations were completed.
 
Surely the only Golf specific fitness and strength needed is to be able to effectively lift a pint in the clubhouse afterwards....?
