Well the countdown has begun. For the first time in 6 months I will be heading to the first tee with clubs in hand after smashing my shoulder to pieces. The nice new and shiny TM R11S is ready along with the new putter. The battery is charged for the trolley, the clothes are ironed in my wardrobe and a nice shiny pack of TM Penta TP5 are sat in my bag waiting to be lost in the canal....lol.

The swing looks as good as ever on the range even though it is slower and more controlled, but that can only be a good thing can't it? Is the first ball going out of bounds into the canal....only time will tell. But it is such a good feeling to be up on a Sunday morning looking forward to a game of golf. The sun is shinning, not a breath of wind so the conditions will be good...................Happy days

Whatever the score, you'll really enjoy the day just for being out there again.

Yesterday was my first round in 4 months following 2 heart attacks and an op on my back. The score wasn't great, an 84, but wow(!), loved every second of it.

Enjoy yourself Adey.

Good luck. Just enjoy it.

Had about 9 months off in 2010 while I played a little match against Mr C (during which time this Forum was a godsend).

Was so great to get back on the course. Makes you appreciate just being out there so much more.

I'd say take it easy and play within yourself, don't expect too much and I'm sure your game will come back in no time.

Well that was better than I thought. 5 over after 9, 5 over after 13, but then the shoulder started to get tired and ended up 11 over. But what the feck, I had a new driver and a new putter. I was going to be happy with breaking 90 so really pleased to do 83.

On a better note I took my girlfriend for a game with me. She had her first go on the range 3 weeks ago. First time on a golf course and shot 134 so really pleased for her also. Played round with a couple of lads off 3 and +2 and they where surprised that she had only been playing for 3 weeks.

Nice one Adey, good to see you back on the course.. As a matter of interest, what shaft did you end up putting in the R11s. I know you spent a fair amount of time looking.... Did you take my advice and put a scaffolding pole in there..;)

Oh, and get your name on the Woburn reserves list for next year if you have the chance...

+11 is a good start back after such a long lay off. Welcome back. That handicap should tumble when you brush off the cobwebs on the short game and the old feel returns.

Well I ended up getting it with the RIP stock shaft in stiff. I found that with the shoulder I could not swing at the same sort of speed that I was without spending 2 or 3 days in agony. My swing has changed slightly, but I actually like it more as it is under control and I hit fairway after fairway, hence the good score. I now have a nice power fade that is under control but still getting the driver out to about 270 (measured on my GPS). The swing feels good and the new Scotty putter has really made a change to my long putting and still deadly on short putts. Rock on the the next medal, I fancy winning it as yesterdays score was from the white tees.

Sounding good. Confidence is a sizeable percentage of this game, and it sounds like youve found a rich vein of it.. If you have any confidence spare, you could let me have it. Woburn has destroyed mine...

I am just happy to back playing so soon to be honest, I think that is helping me. I am just feeling very confident that my game is feeling good at the moment and I feel I can do no wrong. I hope I get into the game at Woodhall Spa as I would love to play there feeling this good about my game. Unfortunately I have already turned a couple of chances to play as I did not think my shoulder would allow me, but all of a sudden it has sorted itself out.
