After 8 years away doing family, work and other sports have returned to golf and played this morning at castle hawk Rochdale .

It's a mainly par 3 course but not particularly easy when part of the course is frozen and other parts under an inch of mud

Had some really good shots including driving the green on the par 4 and a couple of pars on the way round but also managed a couple of sixes finished 18 over and was happy with that.

Two long puts and a couple of silly missed short ones

It's a big difference judging yardage on the course rather than being on the driving range.

I need some new woods and looking to join a local club and get handicap sorted.

Can't wait for the next round

Glad you enjoyed your round and looking to return to the game on a permanent basis.

It's a bit desperate this time of year what with the cold, wet and wintry weather. A good time to practise though. Roll on spring and summer, makes the game truly wonderful.

Welcome back. I hope that once the better weather arrives (does it ever get as far as Rochdale?) then you can get out on some longer courses and enjoy the joys and frustrations we all endure each week. Glad you are back in the fold though.

Not sure of the weather in Rochdale, only played there as a work colleagues husband has started playing and it's his local course, it was unusual having mainly par 3 holes but could be good practice for sharpening short game

Only used the driver three times!!
