2003, could be Orange (reserva) or yellow label. There is a short time between the 2 in terms of bottling. Crianza means aged in oak in case anybody didn't know.

Faustino's are all good for sure, I is obviously the cream of the crop and the V and VII are even for me. I have had a few bottles of V that have corked. I will have to try the sainsbury's stuff. I tend to buy most of wines there, stocked up on Muriel Rioja and Sangres del Torro from Catalunya last time. La Tasca is fantastic by the way, good food, good beer, and excellent wines, particularly the Cava.

Geronimo, Green Label, If you are talking about our friend Mr Walker you are a cultured man indeed, I bought a bottle from asda fpr £20 3 months ago, bargain! As for canadian lager, moosehead is fasntastic, have to go to london to get it though!

Ali B, I don't have water with my scotch myself, I like to get the full depth of flavour and find that ice/water detract from it. What is your tipple of choice?

Neat is the only way, no ice, no water, nothing.

A few guys at the members club I belong to drink single malt with coke/lemonade. If you are going to bastardise good drink at least only do it to teachers I have said to them before. More money than brains some of these guys!

yip mr walker indeed. i have never noticed the difference between red and black so for a nip at the weekend relaxing watching the tv i will have some red label with some ginger ale, but when i want a drink to enjoy i will have some green label thats been in the fridge for a couple of hours as i like it cold but i don't like ice or to mix the better whiskey with any thing else.
Just heard an advert on the radio morrisons selling Glenmorangie with £10 off so that's £15 a bottle its a bit of a deal.

Have you tried gold or blue label (walker again)

Lager. Hunners of it.
Bicardi & Coke if I'm bagged up.

I can't stand whiskey snobs. See what I did there?
Same with people that say that you spoil a steak if you want it cooked all the way through.
I would take personal offence if someone came up to me in a bar and told me I wasn't taking my drink properly and if that makes me a philistine then so be it.

On a side note I remember being told a story about Jim Baxter who used to play for rangers being asked after having a memorable game how he managed it.
He said.. "Ach, I had a couple of great teachers....
then a Whyte & Mackay then a Grouse."

Designated for the Xmas table are two top bottles:

Chateau Montrose, St Estephe 1996
E&E Black Pepper Shiraz, Barossa Valley 1997.

At other times during the festivities, Peroni Lager will be the drink of choice. I love the romance and history of Scotch but, damn, I just can't stand the stuff. Sad, really.

www.drinkaware.co.uk, if you want a good laugh. Apparently WE ARE ALL DOOMED.

Happy Xmas.

I must admit Faustino is the best one ! Have you tried one Called Beberano from j sainsbury is 8 quid a go sometimes theres a deal and its a fiver its a good one i recon, Give it a try for me see what you think!
Im quite a fan of spanish stuff. Has any one here been to La tasca??
Sorry to be pedantic but it's ''esta llamado'' or ''se llama'' Campo Viejo, which means Old Country. The other winery you mention is Berberana, I've never heard of Beberano but could be wrong. Anyway, I'll be drinking litres of the stuff over the next few days and getting some golf in. Feliz Navidad a todos los golfistas de ''Golf Monthly''

Got a few packs of Guinness draught and Koppaberg Cider, both apple and pear varieties as I have simple tastes. I also picked up a few bottles each of marks&sparks Asti and bucks fizz for the wife.
Im not a vodka/gin/bacardi man, if i was going to drink shorts it would be jd or southern comfort with white or coke.

I HATE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU

I went into hospital last year with acute pancreatitis (I was an hour away from dying). As a result my pancreas is totally knackered and my specialist has said that for at least the next 3-4 years my body will treat any significant alcohol (in his words a pint or a double) as a poison and I'd risk doing significant further damage.

As it is I have to watch how much alcohol is in my food. Do you guys know how hard it is to source a Christmas pudding with no alcohol in.

Sadly it is one of those shitty things that happen in life. Whatever you favourite tipple I hope you all enjoy it over the next few days. If any of you are playing on Boxing Day be careful - you know what they say about drinking and driving !!!

Shite mate, I really do feel for you. I love my booze and had to go off of it totally for 6 months because of severe oesophagitis. I'm meant to take it a bit easy now so I no longer do my 3 day benders although to be fair meeting the mrs sort of put the blockers on that.

I too will be lucky to get a leg-over, she has the ache because I am going to the pub tonight!
