felt ripped off!

I honestly can't comment then, I'm a friend of the owners of the Chipmunk chip shops. Ha Ha

Me and the Mrs have tried pretty much all the local chippies, and now only use the 2 I mentioned. On the golf side of it, Eccleston Park does the best chips in town.

Best chippy I've ever been to is the Inglenook chippy in Ingleton, do giant portions and also have Giant Cod/ Haddock on the mean. Not cheap but nice and has a seating area inside. I think back in 2003 I used to pay £8.50 for Giant Haddock and Split (see who know what a split is)
only us from gods country would know what a split is,the one i called at was in BOUNDRY ROAD.

I used to go there when I was a kid, straight from the pool over the road, for Free Chippy. The new one in Tatty Heath is nice, but as you say quite steep.

If you are going to treat yourself try North Road or Blackbrook, go after 6:30 to ensure that you get the freshest portions following the tea time rush.

I know all the tricks, but HID only lets me have chips once a week. What course do you play @

i have spoken to you before on these pages i was a member at yours ( freeby ) but i am a member of ASHTON G.C.

How Ashton holding up to all the rain?
not been playing because of ill health but had bad reports from some of my mates, bit of infighting regarding the green keeper etc but i bet that goes for most clubs, when i am playing again ( april if everything goes ok ) i will pm you to come for a knock.

Blimey, our local does a takeaway special, 2 adult cod & chips and 2 kids cod & chips for £12. Mrs H and I don't have kids so we don't go hungry on chippy night :whoo:

Having spoken to some people at work this chain is well known for being very expensive, one girl told me they don't actually sell a chip barm ( a northern thing ) that other chippies do for about £1-10,but will sell you a portion of chips for £1-60 then sell you a buttered barm cake for 60p and put the chips in it for you, very generous i'm sure!!.

We have a very good chippy in the village. Chicken breast and chips, cod bites and chips, burger and chips, 9 inch pizza and chips and battered jumbo and chips for about £15. 10% off with a discount card that cost £3 to buy. Great chips too.

Damn that is pricey. Chip shop near me does a great fish supper. Either Whiting or cod. If you go for whiting you get 2 massive fillets and a good portion of chips for less than a fiver.

6Inch, you make a lot of posts about the wigan / St helens area. Try calling into Blackbrook chippy in St Helens, or North Road Chippoy, but sub £5 per meal and good portions very clean 5* Hygiene rating and very tasty.

They are the only 2 me and HID use.

Or; walk past Blackbrook chippy, just a mile up the road to the Haydock supper bar, by far a better chippy. Then by the time you finished eating your chips you will arrive at The Owls Nest where you can join me for a pint of Tetley's £2.20 :)

I go in the Owl twice a week. lived in Haydock for 30+ years but only started going in Owl after my local the Huntsman shut down.

I notice you said you're a member of Ashton. Its the nearest course to where I live and I know a couple of members. I considered joining about 3 or 4 years ago, but far too expensive. Its the joining fee thats the killer, same goes for Haydock, even if they do spread the cost its still a joining fee
