Another poor show by Mclaren.

Has Hamilton been demoted back to 4th place or stripped of points altogether. Various reports are saying different things at the moment

What I don't understand is, why can't they end the race at the finish. The Aussie GP finished on sunday yet the results are still disputed. In football you can't appeal against a penalty that clearly wasn't and cost yout team the match, yet in F1 it seems you can!!

I can understand if the issue is with Hamilton/MacLaren providing false evidence but what's wrong with slowing down in those circumstances - it's just tactics forcing the other guy to overtake under a yellow - should have been awake.

F1 is doing itself no favours and seems to have over the past few years done all it can to make things as complicated and confusing as possible.

Some of the decisions last year were absolutely diabolical. There was a decision with Massa, I think it was at Valencia, where the crew released him from his stop unsafely, and he was just fined and kept the win. Happened to another driver, not sure who, and he lost points or places, can't remember which.

At least the fantasy F1 points get frozen 24 hours after the race, so I still get the points for Hamilton :D

The Race started with an enquiry in place I believe, which could have altered everything post race anyway ?!
Summat to do with some of the cars rear wing or undertray??

I just havent got the patience anymore, its a farce.
Get rid of Fuel stops, sort out who's legal and who's not BEFORE the race, and then it might start to become entertaining perhaps.

Its a joke.

I think F1 is a bit more complicated than football and if Lewis had told the stewards what he did then this would not have happened another blow for Mclaren i wonder what Mercedes think of this. Maybe Brawn-Mercedes is a better option publicity wise.

Seems with all the appeals and disputes it's going to be the team with the best lawyers rather then engineers and drivers who will win.

:(

But I am dead please for Button after the past couple of years.

This pretty much sums up my point of view. I am not concerned about who did what, who is to blame and who is in the wrong. What I want is a sporting event where the result is finalised on the day. If appeals have to be made, delay the podium presentation, hear the appeals, make a decision then award the result. Once the winner has been announced and given the trophy all arguments become null and void.

Earl: How wrong you are.

I love F1 & all motorsport, but the problem with F1 is that it is now so ridiculously governed/managed, call it what you will, it has lost all its credibility and entertainment, as here we are 4days later with a complete turnaround of result, and for the 2nd time.

As has been said, IF there is any doubt, delay the podium, have a debate trackside with all concerned and TV footage, and sort it out.
Presumably if the cars were also checked and found to be completely legal before the race, we wouldnt have cars been thrown out after the race either.

As much as I love F1 (and I did get up early to watch the qualifying ;)) it saddens me to say that the likes of Hill, Clarke, Hunt & Senna must be laughing their cocks off right now....bless 'em.

Love it. :D

My sentiment exactly Chris. I'm a big motorsport fan too and will still be watching all the F1 races that I can, but it is just getting really silly.

I think once the race is done. It's done. Stewards rulings stand.

If something comes to light after the race, fine, punish the team or driver in the next race. But if it's not done by then. It's dropped.

Am I right in thinking its not all over yet? Don't the Brawn team and a couple of others have to have their "diffuser" confirmed as being legal?

The stewards will decide the outcome of the championship and that can't be good for the sport or motorsport in general.

Other sports will take notice. We already have cards being recinded in footy. How long before goals are disallowed days after the fact? How long before any decision is overturned? And don't say that they can't in footy as it would change the results - thats happeneing in F1 right now?
