Exploding Bomb 5 yards behind 18th green at Royal Liverpool

As per thread title - my friend’s Dad lives adjacent to the 18th fairway at Hoylake — I got sent a video and photos from my friend last night. Apparently a bomb was found and set off yesterday in a controlled explosion, merely yards behind the 18th green…

EDITED: to say ‘adjacent to the 18th fairway’….as ‘opposite’, as I originally wrote, would be on Hilbre Island

Convert the crater to a new bunker, add a sign explaining its origin and it becomes quite a fun interesting talking point!

The German bomb aimer had obviously missed Liverpool docks.

He must have been a pretty special German aimer as it was an artillery shell.
Probably an allies shell
