I was having a ramble round the web lunchtime, Wentworth for the BMW looks good - if I read it aright, a ticket for all four days plus the practice is only £50 (unless that's £50 each day).

Either way, this looks the one for me

You mentioned The Wales Open in your post, the cost for tickets are:- Daily adult £25 or for all four days £55, free entry for under 16s with a full paying adult or senior and the practise days are free also. This year the comp will be played on the 2010 course.

Think Mad, JF and Homer pretty much cover it. Having only been to one event, the Open at Hoylake, would recommend you consider the location and the likelihood of it being very busy, and therefore very crowded, if near large cities. I would also like to go to the European Open in London but also have a desire to go to the Welsh Open, doesn't look too crowded and you may get some early glimpses of the Ryder Cup course.

You will get more than glimpses of the Ryder Cup (2010) course, that's what they will play on from this year, and you're right, it doesn't get too crowded and surely some bigger names might start to play as the Ryder Cup gets closer.

The British masters was not too crowded when I went and The Belfry is easy to get too with good parking.

Thank you for all of your helpful replies and sorry to have taken so long in adding this.

(I'm still in recovery from seeing the gig of my life two days ago at the 100 Club where I got to meet some of my rock idols)

The prevailing thinking is that it's a must at some point in ones life to which I concur. You've all given me plenty to think about and excellent do's and dont's- thank you.

I'll start poking around some of the tournaments and ideas you've mentioned and try and book something for this summer. Maybe we can catch up in the beer tent one warm summers afternoon?

cheers,

billyg

A friend of mine went to the Open last year.

He didn't have too much to say about the golf however, his main topic of conversation was the price of the food and drinks!

He's not even Scottish either!

Spend many a happy day in my teenager years at the Irish Open at Royal Dublin and Portmarnock two great links.

Also went to the Irish Open in Druids Glen and the European Open in the K Club, a few weeks after teh Goose won his first US Open- to see his ball striking was a joy to behold.
