Morning all, anyone played Etchinghill in Kent? Been roped into a last minute society do on Friday and wondered if anyone had thoughts on the place?

Cheers

Not played it for years but if it's wet and windy go prepared. The course is on the side of a hill so from the start 3/4 holes work their way along the hill horizontally, then one hole goes straight up the hill, then the next 3/4 holes back along the hill horizontally the other way. Then when you reach the top (it's very exposed) you come back down the hill in a similar fashion.
Quality of the course will be hit or miss I think, it's never been considered a quality track but it's ok. It's owned by Pentland Golf who have 4/5 other courses. The club house is quite welcoming and the food is pretty good.
My friends played it recently, they're both 28 hcp and after 13 holes, they decided to walk in as it was cold, wet and windy and they wasn't having fun.

played Etchinghill on a society day - very hilly, some long walks to the next tee, would hire a buggy.

Strange 14th hole - electricity pylon to avoid off the tee, try to hit right of the pylon, fairway runs right to left downhill.
cheap society venue - i would rather play Sweetwoods Park.

I haven't played it for a while but would go along with the comments made. Bit too hilly for my liking, decent outhouse and food. It's not badly looked after for a pay and play and they do try to keep standards up
