Electric vehicle owners?

Great on those four sunny days a year we have in the UK.

However solar panels can collect power even when it’s clouded over, hence why solar farms have become so popular

Also how darn hot does your car roof get even with a small amount of sun? That’s just lost energy

Bar a handful of long trips every year I would be probably charging an electric car once a week.

I’m desperate to own one but the price is too high. Will be a while for us.
+1
We needed a replacement second car for short trips. The Renault Zoe was just the ticket (lovely little car, BTW).
BUT: the batteries are extra. Either buy them outright for about £5k, or you can lease them. Minimum lease charge was £50 a month, with a mileage limit of 4500/year. So they're charging you about 13p a mile before you've even paid for the electricity to charge them! The economics of owning an EV just don't stack up just yet. Maybe in a few more years it'll make sense.

We own a Nissan Leaf , 100% electric which HID drives. Range anxiety is the main issue as its 2nd hand and with heating/ cooling on etc it may only show 90 miles of range. However, most trips she does is well within 90 miles return and weve never charged it away from home. No garages to go to and it doesn't appear to gobble much electricity from our free charger which is used most days. The car is super comfortable and is quick when needed to be and, for sure, if the mileage was much better I'd probably have one too.

I've had my Renault Kangoo EV for nearly four years now. I must have got a better deal than most as my battery lease is £42 pm for 9k miles per year.
It's still the best thing I've ever bought and I prefer to drive it for short trips over my BMW.
