Electric Trolley Woes

Having just come back to the game after a 5 year gap and having a dodgy knee I decided I'd pick a 2nd hand electric trolley up to help me get round.

After asking the relevant questions to a local seller on gumtree I was assured all was in perfect working order and the battery was good for 27 holes at least, well after having to leg it back to the car park today during a medal after only 4 holes when it ran out of guts to ditch the trolley and carry my clubs obviously I wasn't best pleased, I have since become more vexed when after contacting the seller he proclaimed 'sold as seen mate', what happened to 'In perfect working order' !

Annoyingly I have also knackered the speed dial by twisting it rather too enthusiastically trying to get some power out of the damn trolley in frustation, it just keeps going round now and clicking on and off randomly, is the switch an easy fix and is it worth me getting a new battery and if so where is the cheapest, the model is a powerbug sport x probably a few years old as it's blue in colour which they don't appear to sell now, alternatively does anyone know of a servicing place somewhere close to Bournemouth that they can recommend.

Cheers Andy

Here's what I would attempt first.

jack the drive wheels of the troley off the ground and turn the power on, if the battery is 'shot' then nothing will happen, I would expect there to be enough power to drive the wheels, when it has drained the battery then do a complete charge.

Unfortunately the seller is correct in that you have no come back against him, caveat emptor I'm afraid.

I'd suspect that you'd be able to source spares online (here in fact http://www.powerbug.co.uk/Category/Spares and it all looks like it's held together with spade connectors so hopefully simple to change over). It just sounds like the battery has been deep discharged. If you can, try to get it onto an optimate or similar battery conditioner, it might be able to bring it back. If not, it may be replacement battery time.

Good luck

Thanks for the responses, have given powerbug a call sounds like the switch issue might be an easy fix so hopefully just a new battery.

You may find that if you uncouple the wheels of your trolley they will lock onto an outer setting allowing the trolled to be pushed freely without it being in-gear.
