El Hadji Diouf

I'm another who would cheerily wave Diouf into the sunset if it meant him never playing again. A total arse, motivated by greed and blind sel-importance. I've heard him swear at women in the crowd, at kids and balls boys. What sort of loser resorts to that. I don't even rate him as a footballer.

I think the club have been shrewd though and it will generate interest and potentially increase the gates at least at first. However are they prepared to handle such a prima donna when it all gets a bit much and some clogger of a lower league defender (and I actually mean that in a nice way) welcomes him at an away game with a sharp rap on his ankles

Homer, not that I am a big fan of Diouf but I do feel he is over-demonised, couple of points for you:

'A total arse, motivated by greed and blind self-importance' - that sounds like a good 50% of Premier league players.

'I've heard him swear at women in the crowd,' - did you not see Rooney and the camera incident last year?

'I don't even rate him as a footballer' - clearly someone does, African player of the year, twice.

There are players out there who have done much worse than Diouf, they just don't seem to get demonised as much.

'Cos none of them spit in fans or other players faces.

Right Chris, lets get this in perspective then shall we - let's say you are a professional footballer, would you prefer:

a. EHD spitting at you.
b. Roy Keane ending your career with an assault - it can't be called a tackle as that involves going for the ball and therefore the ball being in the vicinity.

As a fan, would you prefer:
a. EHD swearing at someone in the crowd, with your wife or daughter possibly in the vicinity.
b. Craig Thomson grooming your under-age teenage daughter online, bombarding her with filth and naked pictures of himself.

Perspective?

So its allright to be spat at then? fair enough.

Could you please quote where I stated that it was ok? mmmmmm, don't think you can; what you can keep doing however is trying to avoid my point - there are much worse characters in the game of professional football than El Hadj Diouf.

You asked why he was demonised and I offered an opinion, which plainly wasn't enough so what else can I say?

Where did I say the other things were better or worse? They are all pretty despicable.

I have thought long and hard and I can not think of a worse scumbag in football than Diouf! There are quite a few up there, but to me he is the worst!

Well unfortunately EHD seemed to get a decent reception last night, although it was somewhat overshadowed by the news breaking of the death of Billy Sharp's 2 day old son at the weekend. Sharp scored a belter and there was barely a dry eye in the house. A true pro who asked to play despite the events of saturday, someone who Diouf could learn a lot from if he took the time.

If ever a player deserved to score a goal it was Billy Sharp. Very sad news about his son.

Or Roy keane, there are in fact a lot

I was talking about current players, and in my opinion Diouf is the worst.

Roy Keane would have been a saint compared to half the Leeds side of the 70's.:) When Robin Friday was playing for Reading he used to try and cripple his own team mates in training if he he didn't like them. Absolute nutcase, but still regarded by many as our greatest ever player.

I have given this some thought and cannot think of a more despicable footballer than Diouf.
