Anyone played it and what's it like?

Looks very nice. I have managed to get into their Open on 18th September on our way up to play Royal Aberdeen the next day....seemed a long way to go for just the 1 game so booked in and got a b&b and the bright lights of either Edzell or Brechin to look forward to on the Saturday night!! ;)

I played it a few years ago whilst in Montrose, very good course. The term "hidden gem" is somewhat overused when it comes to Golf courses but it certainly applies to Edzell. From what I can remember there are a lot of tree lined holes and it is quite tight, a good test. I do remember thinking that given the chance I would definately go back.

Played it a few times Alan,it's a great wee track usually in great nick.
It's pretty open and you would need to be wild to get in bother of the tee.
Sure you will enjoy it mate.

Hi Alan

Edzell is a cracking course, the first hole is a short par 4 then it gets better after that a lot of par 4s that you have to think about rather than a crash with the driver and the greens will be spot on at this time of the year. The clubhouse is an old fashioned one with good food if i remember.Try to get digs in Montrose if possible there's nothing in Edzell or Brechin( sorry Beriut ).Montrose aint that far from Edzell and has a 3 or 4 decent pubs.

Played it last year on a very wet sunday and really enjoyed it. Just moved house closer to it so hope to get round it again on a nice day.

I am sure you will enjoy it

As stevek says there is just nothing in Edzell at all, a one pub village.

I'd give Montrose a miss as well, you might as well just head to Aberdeen, it's 40 minutes at most, and you'll have plenty night life.

If you are driving to Aberdeen from Edzell, you MUST take the B974 to Fettercairn and on to Banchory over Cairn o' Mount. It is one of the best driving roads in the UK. ;)

Cracking course Edzell, in great nick at the moment, played it on Thursday, need to think about the tee shot more than most courses. If you drive over the Cairn you will go past our house, watch out for the deaf black cat with the penchant for sitting on our wall staring down the traffic (quite eerie I am told). Quite right about the nightlife, head for Aberdeen!
