Earthquake in Grimsby

Karma for Youngs stealing the 450 Annan jobs.

They're not stealing jobs. They're still an employer in the area and also other sites in Scotland. All they're doing is closing 1 site and moving operations to Grimsby. And the other site in that area dealing with Scampi production they're creating 50 new jobs.

So yes whilst very unfortunate that there will be redundancies in Annan, how can Grimsby be 'stealing' those jobs when it's the same company?

I think the £1.3m grant [bribe] from the Westminster government seemed to seal the deal.

£1.3 m spent to lose 450 jobs in Annan and create 200 jobs in Grimsby. Does that make sense.

Any credible source for the £1.3m.....and not Wings?

Type '£1.3m grant to Youngs Grimsby' into Google and take your pick.

FYI...I have no beef with the very rich company of Youngs...….just the reason why Westminster gave them a [cough] grant.

Yep found that ta.

Rather than blame Westminster why don't you question why the Scottish Government use their own regional development fund to give them a (cough) to stay!! 😉

Homer for a year or two the most volatile place for earthquakes in the UK was Ollerton in Nottinghamshire. Nowt to do with my now shut pit 😳allegedly. There were hundreds. Yet folk still seem to think it will be ok to frack in the same area where hundreds of earthquakes have occured.

There seems to be a number of larger (by UK standards) earthquakes happening these days. Is there any particular reason for the plates shiftng more often

It’s not the tectonic plates shifting that cause earthquakes in the UK as we are nowhere near any plate boundaries. Its minor slippage on old fault lines.

Also, I suspect that there are no more earthquakes here than before. There are hundreds of minor ones every year, it may be that more are getting reported.
