DVD or Blu Ray Player?

I have to buy a DVD player for all the peppa pug and Ben and holly DVDs that are coming thick an fast but I am not sure what's best to buy, a DVD player or a Blu Ray player. Any ideas?
I don't buy movies yet but will probably have a pile of Disney type stuff in years to come.

IIRC a Blu Ray player will also play DVD's, but a DVD player will not play Blu Ray discs.

Can you still buy DVD players?

An OK bluyray does hardly cost anything today and you can play both on it.
