I see a lot of people doing this these days. Does anyone else think it is dangerous? I find my spatial awareness is diminished when I have mine on, I would never contemplate driving with them.

yeah and it should be banned in my opinion....you simply cannot be as safe with them in as having them out.

I await the first argument of "but if you have your stereo loud....." it is NOT the same thing, far from it.

Another yes from me too.

Don't know bout banning them but I do feel that driving or cycling wearing them can lead me to be less vigilant. Tried it once but did not care for the increased feeling of vulnerability and danger I experienced and would never dream of wearing them in such circumstances again.

Drove Military vehicles wearing headsets, sometimes only on the one ear, not convinced by the not safe argument, although I do see a difference between wearing them for work reasons and wearing them for leisure.
Maybe it’s a concentration thing and if wearing them for pleasure, you may become too relaxed.
See more pedestrians wearing them and going into a world of their own and being a danger tbh.

Only time I put headphones or ear buds in, is when I'm travelling on the train or flying. Watch something I've downloaded from Prime or Netflix, or listen to my music to drown out the wails of the crying baby that I inevitably get in the same vicinity as me.

I don't like wearing them when walking about, I like to hear what is going on or who is behind me. Bad experience as a kid getting bundled into a car by two blokes, wasn't wearing head gear then, but since that experience I like to know what's going on around me, even to the point of taking note of shadows and reflections around me.

Agree. I feel I drive better when I can hear the engine, road and surroundings, even if I've the music on.

If I'm on a familiar road and I just want to chill I'll sometimes crank the volume, more often the music in the car is just music I've listened to many times and thus just background noise rather than the road rumble or engine, but then in places where I'm not familiar or where I'm having a bit of thrash, I'll have no music on, maybe window down, so I can hear the engine and tyres.

Yes I think it's dangerous, and when cycling and even running/jogging. I think we all need all our faculties and therefore concentration when doing any of the above.

Seen a young girl buds in ears , ambulance pull-up behind her blues and twos on she didn’t even know it was there .
Driver next to her had to get out of his car to bang on the window.

I think they should be banned your not aware of things around you.

I see people unaware of what’s behind them without any bud or headphones on a hourly basis

Seen someone with them on pull out on an ambulance at a set of lights, obviously never heard the siren.
