Hi All, I started playing last autumn so my level is still pretty low. My iron play is quite consistent, I don't play wonderful shots but at least I seem to be in control of what I do, but I have some serious issues with woods from the tee. Basically my drives go straigth for the first 100-150 yards and then swerve suddenly to right missing the fairways almost all the times. It seems that it starts when the ball slows down but I'm not sure about it.

Any help?

Sounds like a slice. It'll be more noticeable the longer the club.

It could be down to a few different things and given that you are pretty new to the game I'd suggest a lesson with a local pro looking at your woods. They should be able to identify the cause and give you some advice on how to change your swing a little to fix it.

If it starts straight then curves then your swing plans is usually correct so I am told and is more likely to be your grip. One of the things you must do (and I have recently learnt the hard way) is the make sure your grip is perfect every single time you hit a shot. Get a lesson from a pro and get him to correct your grip and make sure that you watch and note exactly where your left hand is and exactly where your right hand is so that you can do it again and again. What I am on about how far the left hand is rotated around the shaft and also the right. Once you find the perfect position for you it'll make a huge difference to your game.
Try rotating both hands slightly right (a few mm at a time) and hit some balls. Try and find the correct postion for you. Best of all see a pro.

This exact thing happened to me on Sunday!! Straight and then some rediculous power fade thing kicked in!!

I re-checked my lines and my feet were pointing left and I'd opened the club face..

A quick re-alignment and I was back on track so check your alignment - it's probably out.
