Driver question

Hi all,
I am a new member and new to 18 hole golf. Looking to replace my really cheap driver with a better one. In 'normal' times I would go to my golf club pro and try out some clubs. However, have seen the Callaway Rogue Driver which is optihosel adjustable. Has anyone used this and is it worth me buying it and trying it out and adjusting accordingly? Thanks!

You need to make sure you get the right shaft you can adjust it in many ways but if you get the shaft wrong it won’t make any difference. IMHO.

Don't place any importance on a adjustable driver yet. If you can't try because of the lockdown I'd start with a ping g400 max.. Same budget as a rouge and it'll retain its value if you want to sell it on

I would wait.

You wont be able to use it for months anyway, and at this time of year all the new drivers are released, so each of the previous models drop in price around end Feb.

Its absolutely worth while waiting until you can speak to someone who has seen you play, as there is a big range in performance that cant be solved with just the optifit hosel.

Other than that, as with al.ist all drivers released in the last 5 years, the rogue is more than capable. What works best for you - if properly fit - is largely down to taste.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I think on reflection I will wait until I can get fitted for a driver. Hopefully, this might coincide with the sale of the previous models!

Personally I think youll be making a mistake getting fit for a driver. You'd be better at this stage asking a pro to recommend you a cheap driver and spend the rest on lessons. At the moment your swing will be changing each time you play. Can't fit a driver around that

Thanks Hovis, I may well send an email to the club pro and see what he suggests. I looked at the Ping G400 max, which looks nice. They stock the Ping G1410 range, don't know how that compares?
