I do so I can totally concentrate on the speed of the putt but I don't spend ages lining it up.
I pick as small a spot just in front of the ball, line up the line and stick with it. When I change my mind, normally when I'm over the ball and the putt looks different, I inevitably miss the putt on the line I've changed to. I also like to play the ball quite well forward in my stance as I hit the ball better and get a better roll. This may also be because I'm left handed, playing right handed and I'm left eyed to boot so the ball is under or slightly in front of my left eye.
