Do you qualify to play ?

My club holds the Selbourne Salver each year, which together with another amateur event played at North Hants, makes up the Hampshire Hog. 72 holes over one weekend.

Just checked the 72 man entry, and the highest handicap playing is +1.1, and the lowest handicap is +5.0.

You have to be a mighty fine player to even qualify for some of the top amateur events.

We also have a 72 hole WAG ranking comp held on our two courses.

In last year's comp the h/cap limit was 3 or better and, over the 4 rounds, no-one came in with sub par total. +1 was the winning score. What was surprising was that there were only 18 sub par rounds in the whole event. This year the h/cap limit is 1.

Our pro won that Selbourne Salver thing when he was a junior many many moons ago. Mike Few is his name and he might still be on the honours board I guess
