Hi All,

Just a quick poll to see the main reason you play golf. This being a golf forum I would think it may be a bit one sided as the participants are more on the hard core side. So onto the poll.

Its the MAIN reason I am looking for.

I am all about the quest for perfection, a perfect swing, the lowest possible handicap, I want to beat the game of golf and spend a life doing so, just as well hey.

My goal is to get to single figures.....Im a very sociable guy and would get on with almost anyone but i play very competitive wth myself....As i just retirted from football last year golf was perfect for the transition......I dont ever think that the competitive streak will leave me its in my nature but it can be a hinderance at times too....

Before this year i would of said to get as low and win as much as possible but i have played better golf when playing bounce games this year because i have just been enjoying the craic and not taking it as serious.

I really want to win evertime I play a club competition or match but also want to enjoy the round and the company (something I've not always done). I also really like the Saturday morning roll up where the humour can be more destructive than any shank

Cough cough and what did you vote? Like I dont already know. :D

Both for me, used to be ultra competitive but having missed most of the last 5 years due to injury just being out playing is a huge plus, doesnt mean the competitive juices arent there, just not quite as strong currently

I voted for both although this year was purely social, I probably would like to get better and (oddly) I don't really care too much if I win or not..... most of the time.

I know if I play well enough then I'll win and if I don't then I won't, no point in fretting about it.

I wanted a

"Play to escape the wife!"

option! :D

I always said I never wanted to be one of those guys who plays golf to get away from the wife, but that has happend a few times this year...
