Evening Fellas.

I played this morning and had a bit of a shock....My clubs started working and i only had the 1 socket ball :( thank god.....

The say that the best way of seeing whats happening at impact in your swing is to read your divots......

Depth, length, and shape.....Oh as well as their direction.....
So.....Im a bit puzzled......Pointing right of the target is a ball attacked from the inside....
Pointing left is an indication of an out to in path.....Thats fine i understand this.....
But.....Today mine were slightly half moon shaped and nice and shallow but whats the story......Is it good, bad or inbetween......I was hitting the ball quite well.....

Im guessing im in to square to in.......Or am i talking through my ass :)..

That sounds just plain weird!?!?!? The only way I can think of that shape being created is if you are hitting the turf with the toe of the club first, gradually the rest of the head comes into contact and then leaves the ground with the toe trailing through. I want to see a picture :)

You are probably flexing the shafy and catching the ground with the toe first.

You may need to get your clubs fitted using a lie board to check how the clubface impacts the ground.

I think that ye may have misunderstood my post a little fella's......I probably didnt describe the situation enough......

The divots are not toe or heel deep they are uniform and practically the same width start to finish....And start a few inch's in front of the ball.

If the ball is going where you want it on the flight you desire then I wouldn't worry. I'm learning its substance over style. I've accepted my swin is unique now and just trying to get it to work a little more efficiently but not worrying about things like divots, finish positions, follow through etc. A nice takeaway and hit it solidly is enough to worry about and as long as I'm in play I'll take that. Hard to be too precise with divots at the moment playing off frozen or damp ground

Weathers been a bit up and down here too Homer....Iv actually got daffodils coming up through the ground in the back garden....Its even fooling the flowers... :)

Im starting to accept my swing also.....Iv went from fading the ball to now drawing it and im just finding it a little bumb clenching aiming at stuff on the course now that all along i had been aiming well away from...

I remember a pub called 'Dirty Marys' just outside Shannon. Is it still in business, it was good for the craic.

I agree that what really matters in golf is how you make contact with the ball. How you swing the club matters nothing as long as this part is good.

Thats the one. I used to stay at the Shannon Shamrock and take a stroll past the castle to Dirty Nelly's. You are right that it was full of Americans tracing their family roots.

You'll have to pick somewhere else if you ever pop over again....Im afraid the recession has caught the hotel.....Shame really as it was a nice spot....

Always a bit confused when high handicappers talk about taking divots.."lol

Once you've hit the ball the club should start to move back to the inside, so straight or left is good. Although S&T requires an in-to-out at impact you don't really want to be swinging out to the right excessively as you disconnect the arms from the torso too much and lose power (you can't rotate and swing out with an iron as powerfully as simply rotating and extending through the shot).
