When winning any of our club competitions the prize is usually pro shop credit. I've currently got about £75 credit and I need some new waterproof trousers, so I thought I'd pop in there at lunch and pick up a cheap pair.

"Yes Sir, we have three pairs GG - £155. Oscar Jacobsen - £115 but I'll do them for £100 or UA- £60."

The UA are more over trousers and I'm after Trousers where I don't need anything beneath. So that leaves two pairs that are way over what I want to pay.

I know that I can go elsewhere and get a nice pair of Nike or Proquip for far more sensible money than this.

It really frustrates me that the choice is so limited and they seem to be of the opinion that you can have what's on the shelves or nothing at all.

Are all pro shops like this? I just don't see how they stay in business with the likes of AG being so diverse.

Ours has clothing lines from Adidas, FJ and the waterproofs in Sunderland and Proquip and shop stock is limited. But if you ask him for something from one of the manufacturers that he trades with he will order it for you.
Outside of who he deals with for items not sure what else he can do, he can't stock everything in the hope someone buys it.
Our pro suffered apathy for a long while in regards to the shol but thankfully he has got his act together.

why dont you choose externally and ask your pro shop to order it in for you- win win

Pro shops are small and you cant expect them to have massive diverse ranges on a par with a national retailer

Exactly the mark up for a small account such as a pro shop is small and the outlay to stock a wide range huge.

My pro shop will order anything in you like

Have you asked if he can do that?

You seem to be asking for a fair bit. Pro's have to make a living and so can't always afford to have stock in that isn't going to shift. They are hardly an American Golf Superstore.

On the other hand, think yourself your lucky you have a pro and a shop to go into. Some courses have a hole in the wall, Brandon Wood, as I'm sure you know being from Cov, springs to mind!

Is your pro part of foremost golf?

how much stock do you expect a pro shop at a golf club to stock. You've been given 3 choices from top of the rang to lower, yet thats still not goo enough.

what wrong with paying the extra esp as you would be getting the OJ for £25 ?

I have the UA ones and they are superb, yes I wear them over my normal trousers but I don't notice and I am always warm and dry.

If you can be swayed...

Not really see below.

I asked and was told that was all they had.

I don't think so it's part of a local group of 4/5 shops. Golfstores UK.

Did you ask if he can order it in for you ?

No what I would hope is as others suggest. They should surely offer to get something in for me.
I appreciate they can only keep so much stock.

They have full Nike Suits hanging up for £100 and the Trousers are perfect. So I asked could I have the trousers from a set or could you get me some in??? No it's a set.

I want to spend money there and I want to support them, but every time I go to buy something I can't bring myself to spend the money. I could go to John Reay Golf Range and get a pair of trousers that suit my needs for £40-60 so why would I spend £60 on trousers that I don't really want?

I just want some trousers that'll keep me dry 5-10 times a year tops.

Try look at it from a positive point . you get a pair of OJ for £25 plus your comp fee .. so technically £33/£35 (depending on fee)

They are a good quality brand if you mind them properly they will last you years ,..

Just saying , see the positive and it will be a good deal ..

Yeah I see that, I get it. Just really disappointed with the lack of choice and flexibility. Even if it's not stock on the ground and they have to order them in for me.

but if you already have £75 in credit and you don't like the OJ but like the ones with the Nike suit, why not get the suit and just pay the £25?

My point is not about how much difference it's going cost me, but the lack of flexibility. I don't understand why they can't order me some Nike Troos in? They obviously have access to Nike stock.

I have to look at it that way , We have a 2's club any one that pays in and gets a 2 the money is divided evenly between them in shop credit and its the exact same problem as you have, actually id say a good bit worse than yours by what choices you had to choose from , so i just use it to buy an over priced pair of shoes every year and maybe a t shirt or some balls ..

The stock in mine is a little limited but he will order anything in and price match any sensible online price. Really good service.

Do you know of anyone looking to buy something? Could always trafe your vouchers for cash then and buy whatever you want.
