hi everyone, newbie first post here. Didnt want it to be a negative one,but just got back from my local direct golf and its got me annoyed.

firstly, i went in to browse around for a new driver.that would have been fine for the 99% of golfers who are so obviously the right handed variety, if direct golf would have had me believed.
there were literally about 3 left handed drivers to choose from.....i didnt have the spare £300 for the TM R11,and the other two were horrible.

secondly, not one member of staff came up to me and asked me if i needed help/advice.it was relatively quiet in there, and its happened to me in there before as well.
after 15 mins i walked out.

i understand that these stores cant stock for all lefties, but im made to feel like a bloody leper sometimes, highlighted by the tiny selection of clubs shoved in the corner of the shop.
i know i can order all i want online, but i want to be able to try before i buy like everyone else.

rant now over......:(

well, i havent been playing that long.i play off about 28.i have an old ping g5 with a stiff shaft that a work mate gave me,its okay, but wanted something that will work better for me. i have a bit of money spare and fancied an upgrade.
AG are flogging the ping g15's off cheap, but my local one doesnt have any....or,the taylormade rbz driver either.
most of the reviews were pretty favourable.

regular shaft,10.5 or maybe a 12 degree loft..?

checked the stock situation

best match I can do is a TM Burner 2009 model, 10.5 loft with regular shaft. Has origional grip and head cover. Used but fine all round. Call it 50 + 5 for postage, if you don't get on with it or don't feel I've reflected the condition fairly you post it back within the first week and I will refund the 50 to you. It's not the latest model by any means, bit then again it's not costing much money! I still use the matching 3 and 5 in my bag today, with the same shafts; they still work!

pm if interested, can email images etc.

Nothing wrong with the Burner. Mine works ok ( right handed ).
I am a leftie for most things and sympathise with you. The only tool that is made for us is the left handed hammer.
Oh and welcome to the forum.

Not defending DG or AG at all here - my local AG (MK) has some stock of left-handed clubs - but purely from a stock-holding point of view they have to consider the majority.
Is it around 10% of the population are left-handed?
Well that means 90% are not.

When you're holding the kinds of levels of stock that DG and AG hold between them, they only have a limited stock-holding for lefties.
It's not fair - but that's the way it is.
I sympathise with lefties.

Also, the big chains only, generally, hold the common sellers. You won't find many 4 woods - only 3's and 5's as these sell better.
I want to try a 17 degree RBZ - think I can find one anywhere?

You think its bad being a lefty in these shops, try needing a rifle 6.5 in your irons or an X flex in the driver lol. At least you get something to try, wedges and putters only for me :)

cheers guys.....just letting off steam really. i was more dissapointed than anything.the odd thing is, i know of, at least 10 other golfers that i know,or who ive played with in the last year that are also lefties.
being ignored annoyed me more than the choice of clubs i had.

they would have had left handed heads in their fitting carts.

Also, if you needed help why not ask? Yes they should have approached you after some time if you were still browsing, but at the same time, how often do we hear of moans from people browsing who didn't want the shop salesman breathing all over them?

Lefthanded golf great. Have to agree on that one. Get most of my gear from there. Best service I've had. Last time I rang them up to see if they had a matching GW. Only had one in, not on the web site. So I said ok if it still there at the end of the month when I get payed I will buy it. His reply was Its ok don't worry will put it in the back for you. Just give me a ring when your ready for it. Can't say fairer than that great service.

I wouldn't be put off. As others have said rightly or wrongly, most stores and to be fair most pros don't carry huge stock of left handed models as there simply isn't as much demand. As a thought, try a local range and see if they have any demo models in. My local one always has a good stock of the latest offerings and there is usually a leftie version of something about. If not, see if they can get a demo model in. If you can tell them you are seriously in the market for a new driver then it's in their interest to help you

Another vote for left handed golf. Although I am right handed it is in the same place I get fitted, full driving range and all the toys. Well worth a visit if you are up this way.

Another thing that I've noticed being a leftie myself is that most of us play golf right handed. I play snooker left handed but and sort of racket/club sport I play right handed. The same goes for a lot of lefties I've met.

Welcome to the madhouse, get stuck in and enjoy. On the left handed side of things some manufacturers don't even make offer there full range in left hand.
From the customer service point of view I personally prefer the staff to leave me to browse in peace and then ask the staff when I want something I don't want them trying to sell me something I don't want. Guess it's a personal thing.
