Did McDowell have a blip due to Furyk.

Wasn't able to watch this last night because I was working but got to listen to it on the radio for a while. Then I heard the talk about Furyk slow play etc and they were discussing how this can cause faster players to speed up and lose rhythm etc. Seem to have come around a time when McDowell was starting to show a few blips in his game. Anyone think that the slow play of Furyk resulted in GMacs need to fight back towards the end? I know this is pure speculation on my part but did those of you watching it notice anything re: body language etc.

Or did GMAC simple fail to keep his head while those around him were losing thiers?

Probably more to the fact he hit so few fairways, made it much harder on himself.

Don't think McDowell is the quickest of players either to be honest, not watched it but heard him say this morn on the news he was disappointed but pleased with how he played overall.
Slow play is a real issue though, the young am kid hossler, took several minutes to get yardages and choose a club after his playing partner had hit, surely he could have sorted this and been ready to go quickly after dufner played.

See I thought this might have been harsh on the kid when they mentioned that because it looked like his ball was fairly close to duffner's so he might not have been able to assess the lie until after duffner hit.

Furyk didn't look overly slow to me except perhaps on the short putts when he kept walking away from them. I think the stop start play of furyk is what caused his downfall in my opinion. Gmac's ball striking simply wasn't there today. He actually did well to even have a putt to make it a playoff.

I think the speed of play was a serious issue because the program overran the allocated Sky program timings and when I watched it this morning the recording ended with the leaders still on the 16th!!!

Professional golf is a joke now. The pace of play is disgusting and quite simply their is no need for it. I watched Ross Fisher last week on TV and timed him on a putt which he took over 3 minutes to hit from his first look at it.

Furyk steps away from every putt, takes a practice swing AFTER most shots asmongst other stuff, you can see where he does lose a little time, then again, they were the final fourball in a major still in with a chance of winning...

Monty discussed and agreed with Jack's recent comment about a 2 stroke penalty will get their attention, a 5000 dollar fine means nothing at the elite level but a 2 shot penalty will.

Monty added that everyone should be on the clock from the first tee and not wait until they've held up the whole field before being warned

He got penalised a shot for that and was a lot quicker in Sweden the following week.
