Apart from the "golf coast" of Merseyside. Birkdale, Hillside, Formby, West lancs, S and A, Caldy, Royal Liverpool, Wallasey. Spoilt for good links here fella.

We also have a micro climate. Craw, if your missus can go to the shops in rollers and can carry off orange skin your made.
I'm sure with a Scottish education that you would pass an entrance exam (if there was one), don't mention your love of Alex Ferguson though, could prove tricky.
they could claim to be a LABOUR minister as everyone knows you HAVE to be born north of the border to be one,how else could all our money be going north!!!!!

Just get on with it and join up, I drive 17 miles to my place 22 mins in the car not that I'm counting.
It makes the golf more enjoyable when your playing on a decent course mate, plus it will be worth coming down for a game now:ears:

Crawford, isn't your course already a links course? Not sure why you only get 5 months (I know it's been a bad year for all of us though).

I'd prefer the closer course as I love the option of grabbing a quick 9 holes... best thing I ever did was join the course just down the road from me (2 minutes to the 1st tee).

Crawford, I've been thinking a lot about this myself. The 20 minute drive certainly wouldn't put me off.
The only thing that worries me is that the Ayrshire links clubs have a reputation for snootyness
OK if you want to join a golf course.
Not so good if you want to join a Club.

Go for it Crawford, links golf is where's it at. All year golf. Simples.

Iain as far as snootyness goes I believe there is now a mix of people in Ayrshire clubs. Yes you will still get the snooty bawbags but on the whole there are more members now who are there for the "golf" and not for the membership of "a" club. A our place this is noticed by the number of members who actually want to play as opposed to just being a member of the club.

If I were you I would also look into it.
