I've just booked our 2012 Summer Holiday in Honfleur, Normandy for 2 weeks from 11th August. Whilst there I'd like to have a game at one of the local courses; Golf Barrière de Deauville or Golf de Deauville - St Gatien.

If anyone else is in the area at that time it would be great to join up for a game.

Also, does anyone have any experience of paying at these courses?

Not played in that area but I played at Graanville which is about an hour and a half away. Nice Harry Colt designed links course. Fairways were in average condition but the greens were ace and the routing is superb. I hear that Golf De Omaha is also quite good but I haven't played it. You will be cidered out by the end of the trip!

Not played golf but you're going to a beautiful port town, Some great restaurants around the harbour too! Be sure to leave a day or two aside to visit all the D-Day stuff too as it's very impressive and thought provoking.

We're off to the Dordogne in August, 5th time in the last 5 years :) love France!

I love Honfleur, a lovely place, so many great places to eat in the area. Never played golf there, too busy enjoying fine food and wine.

Absolutely! We've found a nice looking place that's walking distance from the centre so that neither of us (aka Me!) have to drive too much.

On the same subject, does anyone have any tips for going to a foreign course as a solo player? Presumably would be sensible to send a message in advance, but would there be any chance of the course arranging a game for me?

If you want a partner it really depends on the course. It is worthwhile contacting them before travelling. The busier the course, the more chance you have of finding a partner but there may be a problem getting on. I have never failed to get on a course during the week after turning up un-announced. Most courses don't have that many members so they welcome visitors. I have not played either of the courses you mentioned, but around Deauville there are many holiday homes of people from Paris and August is holiday time in France so they may be busier than others more remote courses.
