Dead pixel.

What would you do.

Got my new TV on Monday. Unfortunately I was cleaning the screen last night and discovered a dead pixel. Tried a screen fixer for stuck pixels to no avail. It isn't even fully dead. Just the Red & Green seem to have failed. It isn't overly noticeable at a good viewing distance but just knowing it is there is enough to drive me up the walls even if I don't see it.

Got the option now to replace or accept £40 compensation and live with it. It's a 49JL9000 and at £900 is pushing the upper limits for a 49 inch passive 3D LED TV and actually going into price range of the lower end 4k TV's.


What would you do?

Get rid shouldn't go that quick.
 
I like the idea of having a poll for non golf things.
Might ask the forum's opinion on how big a turkey to order for xmas.
 
Full replacement,the £40 will soon be gone & the dead pixel will drive you crazy just knowing it's there.
 
Get a new one it will just annoy you knowing its there, if they offered you £250 I might have to think about it but £40 is the cost of them picking it up and replacing it

Exactly what I thought.

Think its funny though. TV spoilt for me because about 2 out of 6,220,800 little points of light refuse to work :D
 
I had a similar issue with my Canon 7D DSLR, I found it had a dead pixel on long exposure shots, easily rectified in photoshop, but that was not the point, for the considerable amount I paid I wanted a fully working camera, so I got a replacement.

If it was my TV I'd be getting the replacement.
 
Got say John Lewis customer service has been superb. Got word back today after telling them I wanted a replacement. I had mentioned to them that I was losing faith in the LG brand having return 2 other lower end LG sets due to bad backlighting clouding. Tech support had noted this and offered an exchange if I preferred.

After a bit of reading I have opted for a Sony KDL50W8. 3D will not be anywhere near as good as the LG's passive but since 99% of the content is 2D this should be a major concern.
 
For 1 lazy pixel im surprised they are giving you those options Bob.
my note 4 has one from brand new (shows blue on dark screens). Really isnt noticable.

think the tolerances are up to 7 are acceptable, however as its JL they have excellent CS and I only buy from them now.
 
and also with John Lewis, everything comes with a 2 year warranty, which can be very useful as everything these days is built to expire 2 weeks into your second year.

Exactly why I got from them. Then discovered afterwards that Richer Sounds also offer this if you sign up to the VIP club which is no real hassle just a bit of junk email. Advantage to RS is they have a store in Belfast where JL I've got no store options.
