Did he get stuck or just lose the ability to complete the feat? Same guy pulled a train with his hair so this should have been a walk in the park.
 
Reading the article, he got stuck half way across, possibly due to his heart attack, he tried to shout to people, but they couldn't hear or make out what he was saying. So rather than pull him in, they watched hm struggle [read die] for 30mins until he became motionless. Then they realised something had gone wrong and spent the next 45min trying to pull him in.

He have been stuffed anyway as there were no medical teams present at the event.
