Interesting! I’d call them very antiquated!
Rangefinder’s not permitted yet every player in the walker cup was using one !
Paying a hell of a lot of money to play the course but can’t use the driving range!
Despite all of that I’d still love to play it but never will

Believe it’s all about pace of play , each person has a caddy who knows the course inside and out so no need for range finders

I’d imagine that’s exactly what it is. But for that price I want to warm up on the range and experience it all
I do know someone who has played there before and he was blown away and he has played all the top clubs
I would happily follow their rules to play there

I think the word ‘respectfully’ at the end is a tad ironic.
You must arrive in a 15 minute window shortly after dawn.
You must let members through (you are not a member, know your place).
You can’t use the clubhouse.
You can’t use the driving range.
You can’t use your laser or watch.
You may not wear shorts.
You may not take more than 4 hours to play (all that letting members through may take some time).
I’m fine with clubs not allowing visitors, that is their right, but iit would be embarrassing hosting a friend and having to explain this nonsense to them.

I like how they do their subs.......at the end of the year they just divide the total cost, salaries maintenance etc and bill each member.....simple

Closest I’ll get is having read The Match by Mark Frost. Really enjoyable read. True story when a rich guy bet his mate that he could put two of the best amateurs in the world against two of the best pros, and the ams would win. The two pros won, but only just, and they were Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson. The book records the match play over CP in detail hole by hole.

A sunrise round at Augusta and a twilight / sunset round at CP (with private jet in between) is my idea of a perfect day..
For sure the CP holes look visually stunning but at least equally so, to my eye, is holes 9-11 at Turnberry. Played them on a cloudless day. Golfing heaven
