I voted 'other' as strictly speaking I haven't any idea what officially the club memberships numbers are and whether that is considered to be full or not ... not sure why I would know that.

I'm sure we would accept new members, and we have no joining fee ... will be interesting to see how it pans out in the next couple of years as a local club is closing (well, it's been closing for the last 5/6 years!!)

Ours is full with a waiting list that extends for a couple of years I'm led to believe (although they transition people in via temp memberships, not entirely sure of the details) and that could just be for the full male membership category. Joining fee of a years subs but you can split that over 2 or 3 years I think. I got in at the right time a few years back......

I voted other due to above.

Given how fairly quiet the course is I would imagine they have lots of room, or maybe it is the difference between playing down south to up north, so don't really know.

Full. Waiting list. Joining fee. Best course in my area and only getting better with the development work. Feel very, very fortunate to play my golf there :)

Finishing the bunker work that they started a couple of years ago? how's it going?

Meant to see if I could play a round at Purdis over the Xmas period but never got round to it!!

We are currently almost full although to be fair we do try and avoid being full at any given point. No waiting list. We've done well picking a steady stream of new members over 2016 and it'll be interesting to see what the fees will be this year and a) how many fail to rejoin and b) whether we continue to pick up members. I know Maidenhead (about 20 minutes away) is planning to be sold for housing withing another two/three years (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-36822853) so we may start getting a few coming over.

My biggest concern though is the demographic of the club which still seems very old. There are more and more 30-50 year olds coming in but we need to do more in that area and I'd like to see some of the posts on the board and some of the committees going to the much younger blood but that's a two way street requiring some input from the younger members

As a 24 year old, who has just recently started full time employment after leaving university I can't justify joining a club at the moment. Rent, bills etc on a low-ish wage is ruling me out of joining my 1000 a year local club. I think the prices of clubs mean that similar people in my age range are not likely to join and will opt for pay as you play

I understand that. My club offers a sliding scale, the younger you are the less you play up to 35 (which I have an issue with but that's another topic) so we are trying to make it as attractive as we can. There is also a direct debit option to defer payment over the year or payment in two equal sums in March and June.

That's one of the reasons why we introduced an intermediate membership - from the age of 18-30 the fees increase up to full fees at the age of 31. It's helped us increase our numbers in that age bracket from 2 to about 80 now - have a look around and see if there is any clubs that offer similar sort of schemes

thats a good idea. Unfortunately my local club doesn't operate that policy, I'll need to look a bit further afield to afford a membership

Where are you based?

just outside of Glasgow
