Course shut!!

Temporary greens today due to frost. I still think it's rubbish about damaging the greens. They don't close the practice green, and that seems to survive fine.

I agree with you there Murph, my old course, which is a muni has a no temps guarantee and has done for 6 or 7 years. Being a muni and one of the best in the area it gets a lot of traffic but when summer comes the greens are as good as any in the area.

Got to agree with Murph & Hawkeye, we never have temporary greens - if the course is open then the whole course is open. We don't seem to have any issues with them being open when there is a frost, and it doesn't seem to affect them come the spring.

The first today was 'white' only effect was it seemed to slow the puts a little and you had to move the ice that had formed and fallen off peoples shoes.

Totally agree. We were on temps today. I just switch off when they are. Never going to stop a well stuick shot close and miss the flag by three or four yards and you can be in heavy rough having to chip out. My game wasn't great as you can probably tell. Some good shots so trying hard to be a glass half full guy and enjoy the fact it wasn't too cold once you got going and we got a game unlike many less fortunate on here today

Arrived at course at 7.15, still dark.

The course was open and no frost or snow.
We were first out and after playing our second shots to the first saw the greenkeeper move the flag off the big green on to the temporary, all the other holes were temps as well. Weather wasn't as bad as it has been and was reasonably pleasant, had a net 71 playing of three quarters of 17 at 13. One of partners shot 69 less 2, fairly impressive considering.

Didn't have any snow in my area, however, got to the course and the winter tee mats had frozen. There was also odd frozen patches on the fairways and some greens.

Played about 4 holes then called it a day.

Had no confidence in my footing and whether the ball kicked on or plugged when it landed was a lottery at best.

So I'm going to try again tomorrow :D
