I'm supposed to be catching up with some work so obviously I'm messing about on the internet doing anything (not what you're thinking!) but work. Thought I'd have a look on howdidido at my competition results this year and was surprised to see the last medal I played in was as far back as 31st July but also how close it was to being a great round. I just wondered what everyone's "could-have-been" round was last year where one or two holes destroyed an otherwise perfect round?

Mine is below. Was playing off 7 at the time and was 5 under for 15 holes and 9 over for the other 3! Even without the three disaster holes it could have been better as I hit the ball a long way and only managed to par two of the par 5s. I normally play with a fade and the 6th at our club is on a big left to right slope so you aim to the left and the fairway feeds the ball back to the right . I aimed to the left and hit a perfectly straight drive too far on the line I hit into knee high rough - twice! Made par with my third ball. The 7th is a 320yd uphill par 4 which is driveable and I hit into a greenside bunker. When I got to the ball the bunker hadn't been raked properly and someone had obviously pushed the sand towards the face creating amound that my ball was perched on a couple of inches from the faces a foot above where it should have rolled back to. Couldn't get out and my ball landed in my footprints. Anyway, here's my scorecard:

i've had a few this year.

the best "blow up" i had was the very last one of the year which was the 16th of october at callander golf club.

i was out in 30 strokes (33) and had a 6ft putt on 10 to go -4 but just missed it.

i then proceeded to play the next 8 holes in 6 over par, more importantly it was the last 5 holes i played in 4 over whick kind of mucked it up.still finished with a +3 69 but i was thinking afterwards about what could of been.

I had one during August where I scored net 71 (69 par) and had 5 x 3 putt and 1 x 4 putt.
The putter has let me down all this year and has only recently started to come good after adding some length to it and a chunkier midsize grip.
Roll on next year as I aim to work hard on the greens over the winter.

Mine would have been a compt towards the end of the season, one the 18th I pulled my shot to the green into some trees left but it should have been findable with an easy chip and two putts for bogey, the ball was nowhere to be seen though so back down the fairway and finished with a triple.
Lost the comp by two shots and my back 9 had, until then been, very good so I'd have stood an excellent chance on countback.

Had my best round at my home course the last time I played (last Monday) including a tee shot OOB on 12 :(

Very frustrating but at least I know it's beatable.

My could have been round was yesterday. 33 points with 6 blobs including 4 holes where I get 2 shots. Really should of been a 40+ round but didn't take my medicine when I was in an awkward location. Kept trying to blast it to the green and came unstuck too many times.

Had two medal rounds a few weeks ago, a midweek and the monthly one the following Sunday. In the midweek was something like +6 gross (off about 13 or 14) standing on the 16th and came home in the proverbial ambulance. Went 6,6,6 (double, triple, single bogey). Hey ho crap happens. In the monthly a few days later got to the 16 and was only +5 gross and finished exactly the same way. What a plonker

My 67 round (-4) included 3 bogies, shoulda/coulda been a 64, also had 3 putts that shoulda/coulda dropped in that didn't.... was a 61 just begging to be had

Best score ever and felt like I shoulda/coulda been 6 shots better

No, 71.

I had a 69 (ooeeerrrrr) a while ago but don't count it because I was on my own and hitting extra shots (not with my scoring ball though), hitting the flag whilst on the green etc.

Ah right. I seemed to remember you saying you'd shot 69 already. Nice shooting for 71.... glad Fundy took your place the other day!!! LOL :)
