well played my first ever mens competition today and had a fair handicap of 22 but was still pooing myself on the first tee.

well to cut a long story short... i shot 8 under my handicap and i am likely to get dropped after only a week of having recieved it :)

Well done bandit. It often happens when you are in your first comp. Must be something to do with concentration and the positive power of being nervous.
Keep going and enjoy.

If you get cut savagely it should only make you feel good about the lower h/c and more determined to better it. I hope you do, enjoy your success. I often hear golfers moaning about being cut when they should be celebrating, I hope you are a celebrator? ;)

Why hasn't it been cut. I'd be checking that out because if you enter and play off a higher handicap next time out I'm sure many handicap secretaries would be D/Q'ing you. I presume it was a qualifying competition?

Agreed. Worth finding out why you havn't been cut - after all, that should be the prime objective. Cut first - prizes 2nd.

Couldn't agree more. Played on Saturday and had 39 points. Knew this would get me down to 6.5. However when received email from howdidido I had been beaten into third by countback but more importantly css was 74 so got cut to 6.1. I know which I was most happy about!

If it was a qualifying comp then the result you had should have meant a downwards alteration immediately.

Check out the CONGU site for a better understanding of how your handicap shpould work and the responsibilities of both the player and the handicap secretarty
