Come on guys, time to confess.

What secret goodies do you have stashed away in your golf bags that the missus is unaware of?

I think a lot of us have that little bit of cash stashed away for rainy days, to spend on our luxuries. What discreet bit of kit have you sneaked into your bag?

Ubfortunately for me I find it nigh on impossible as my son also plays and knows exactly the contents of my golf bag. 99.9% sure he'd grass if he were to find a spanking new wood poking out the top.
A friend of mine had a great idea though. He secreted a new driver into his bag under the guise of his original. Simply put the old headcover on the club. Missus was, and still is non the wiser!

My mrs is very understanding, she has to be, I wont have it any other way.

We were just discussing(me telling her) that this afternoon I am going to stake outr some new irons, she give me the old, 'you aint had them ones that long' 'do you really need new ones' etc etc.

I did try sneak a wet suit in a a few months ago but forgot to hide the price tags in the bin, when she emptied it she seen them, but I said, you wouldn't want me getting wet when playing would you, I might get a cold or man flu and end up with a few days off work! She understood! :D

This may yet be my ploy when the new 909s come out. I may try a variant of this ploy though, and pop my Arsenal head cover on it, which she also hasn't seen, then she will think I have only bought a new head cover. I can then answer the 'is that new?' question with a straight face, and a truthful yes.

TBH, I can spend what I want on golf, as was evidenced when I recently bought my SG5, hillbilly trolley and Titleist bag. If I have the cash, I can spend it.

Not sure why i need a new driver though, as my current one is probably as good as it gets. Just wondering if the 909D3 is lower spinning than my 907D1. Only one way to find out, and that is to go back to Titleist for another c/f session.

Not a chance, she knows what money I have and we get the bus home together so I cant even order to work, I might have to order something and use the ploy GM sent me it to test lol!!! Failing that I talk (tell her) that I need a new thingy, but I really am thinking of getting the Cobra DWS hybrids as I just can not get on with the M8s, one last chance at the range this coming weekend and if not thats it.

I am geldap's wife and he has been moaning about me buying a wheelbarrow (so I could move bags of soil and rubbish around the garden cos he doesn't) for a mere £30! He has also refused to purchase a ladder so we could check out why the bathroom has no water flowing to it. Cost of ladder? Approximately £60. Cost of new clubs as far as I can make out up to now is circa £800. So far this year his golf habit has cost circa £3,500. A great proportion of that he doesn't have so he has had to take out a loan despite promising that we would not, under any circumstances, take out any other loans while we have a large mortgage. It ain't funny - it ain't nice and it is the cause of divorces in a great deal of instances. It is called "unreasonable behaviour". So lads don't listen to this *** cos he is one. He will be a very good golfer one day I am sure, but he will be living alone!!!

hahahahaha gutted!!

Don't need to worry. HID knows what I've got as she is usually with me when I get it. She is pretty understanding so unless I suddenly decided to fork out £350 on a premium driver I can get away with most things. Sadly cash is tight at present so can't even afford to stash a few quid anywhere for illicit purchases or Chrimbo

A few years ago I swapped my irons without telling the ex-missus.
Kept my golf bag in the garage and she came home one day and couldn't find her key to get in so she used one of my irons to get up through the catflap and release the front door latch (a trick she had done before)...
She didn't realise I had changed clubs which surprised me.............. 'cos I had gone from steel shafted to graphite.

I've done that!! :D :D :D

Told her my new clubs cost just on £150.00 and on the basis I had sold my old irons to a mate at work for £100.00 they had, in real terms, only cost me £50.00.
Then she found the credit card statement for £297.00
:( :( :(

My lad grasses me up. He's nearly 2 and his favorite words are, daddy, golf, beer. In that order. When he saw my new putter and head cover......driver......Wood.....then another....

He was more excited than me DADDY...GOLF..GOLF...GOLF pointing at my bag.

At that my missus said to me that it does look a little more colourful than normal. She had no problem with it as long as she could have the same amount to spend on herself.....bugger!

£90 quid on some hair straightners??? She then said £85 for a putter. She wouldn't listen when I said that was reasonable. She would have hit the roof if I brought the S C studio select for £270!!

Cheers Son!!!

No problems with my spending on golf. She has seen it all before. Bought some expensive fishing rods, they sit in the holdall, not used for 5 years.

I keep koi carp spent £1400 on 5 fish a couple of years ago. she was ok as she was shopping for shoes. They are her luxury, she has over 70 pairs and counting. Some not worn yet, apparently she is waiting for the occasion to wear certain ones. She bought 3 pairs last Sunday and I swear she has already got 2 pair the same but what do i know :D

Anyhow, she says I work hard to earn it??? so I should spend as I see fit "diamond"

I've got the rocket tour head covers for driver and 3wood.

Both have been changed in last 6 months without the missus knowing. Having said that though she is aware of most of my purchases and is generally understanding.

Heck she bought me a lovely satin finish D66 Redwood putter for my birthday so can't complain too much! :)

Hmmm... couldn't do that with the new ap2's I'm getting - not when she's buying them. :) :)

Nothing secret now, but I did forget my shoes on day, bought a new pair and told her thatI won them in a raffle. I had to confess a few weeks later when she saw the bank statement.

All my clubs have changed at least twice in the last two years (drivers 8 times in one year, irons 4 times). Good lady is none the wiser, she hasn't even noticed I now have a TM tour bag!!!

Looking back at that post, my club consumption is bordering on embarassing!
