Hi all, end of the 2024 season, my friends are getting fitted and buying new trinkets. So, I decided to bite the bullet a refurb my set for 2025. The highlight so far has been my new Cleveland smart sole SW. Only used it once on course so far, but what a treat.
I have gamed the C wedge (chipper, yikes!) for over a year, and after lengthening the shaft to 36 inches, really really enjoy it. Very versatile, great club from 105 yards inwards. But, not that useful when shortsided or needing to flop something onto a green. So far, the 58 version of the same club has been great. Very easy to hit a half shot with full power, getting great height and short distance, dropping stone dead on greens. In practice out of the bunker it's pretty good too, but mainly if you don't open the face. I learned to hit bunker shots without opening the face way back in the 90's so I'm good with that. It's definitely not a one trick pony: bunker shots, lob shots to the green, and short side chips.
So, if you can stand having a smart sole club in your bag - highly recomended!
