Clattenburg cleared by FA

Clattenberg's going to get so much stick from fans it's going to be difficult for him to concentrate on the game.
He's also got a fight on his hands to regain any respect from the players thanks to Chelsea going public.

I hope he sues them for defamation and loss of earnings, gets a tidy sum in compensation and can retire.

Just saw this Mikel is getting done instead about time to he has far to much to say for himself, it was the best transfer deal ever never played for Man Utd but they sold to to Chelsea for millions.

Was a lucky escape! Sounds like he's kicked off big style in and around refs room if proven he'll be getting several weeks rest.

Bunch of idiots some people on here. I do not believe for a second that anyone as professional as a referee would say something as disgusting as what was alleged to have been said. What could be the case though is that with his limited knowledge of English is that Ramires or Luiz may have misheard what was said or got lost in translation. Chelsea obviously felt it their duty as an employer to follow up the complaint and thats what they did. So how is it their fault? Take your Chelsea hating blinkers off for a minute and try to see things from both sides for a change. The person I do feel sorry for though is Mr Clattenberg as he obviously didnt say anything but Chelsea had to protect their player at the end of the day.

Utter, utter garbage.

If Chelsea had won 3-0, then this would have never seen the light of day. They have behaved very poorly indeed.

I think Clattenburg should sue for damages either via the players who brought the charge or the club as their employer. Personally it should never have got this far. As for Mikel, the FA will no doubt leap hard if they can prove a case and 4-5 games out wouldn't surprise me. If no-one stands up to the attempted intimidation of referees then surely we are on a rocky road to anarchy. There has to be a point where enough is enough. Rugby doesn't have this issue and there is more going on off the ball, plus the vagaries and depth of the rules and infractions and yet the referee is still a figurehead

Homer - the uncomfortable truth of it is that in broad brush terms, rugby is watched and played by people who haven't been dragged up, have manners and a sense of decency. Football is not. It's a fact, however politically incorrect it may be to say so.

How is this garbage???? A complaint was brought by an employer after it believed(wrongly) that its employee was racially abused. What is so hard to understand about that. Chelsea are partially in the wrong as they should of let the dust settle after a very dour performance from the official before bringing a case. The timing was wrong by Chelsea FC nothing else.

You're delusional. Chelsea were miffed at losing and did something very, very stupid. It's as simple as that. There's nothing else to understand.

Often heard football is a gentlemens game played by thugs and rugby is a thugs game played by gentlemen. In this instance it would seem to be true. The "vibe" surrounding Chelsea has been pretty poor for a while maybe years and this instance doesn't really do much to help their cause.

You've obviously never been to St. Helens,Wigan,Bradford to watch rugby have you snelly?

Why is your problem with Chelsea FC and not the player who made the allegation?? What would of happened to Chelsea as an employer if Mikel made the allegation and Chelsea told him to be quiet and not follow it up.

Put yourself in a normal work scenario and see how your judgement is then. Blinkered vision once again. Say you had an auditor in on a company you own and he allegedly called one of your employees a monkey during a bad audit etc. Your employee complained to you but you brushed it under the carpet as you didnt want the hassle or the publicity. Your employee then quits his job and sues you for millions for not protecting his rights and drags your company through the mud in the courts and papers until he wins his millions. Now try and see why Chelsea followed this up.

I love the fact that you are trying to equate a modern workplace with rules, policies and standards with the utter madhouse that is the premier league. They are like chalk and cheese. Normal rules don't apply. I can't be bothered to argue the point anymore and certainly don't have enough time or inclination to list all the things that I think are wrong at Chelsea. Suffice to say, it's a long list.

Wrong sort of Rugby - they've already had 2 players sent off......
agreed.

Rugby of both codes has a huge amount of respect for the ref. Please prove otherwise if you disagree.

And the obvious way to sort out respect for referees in professional football is to get them miked up so the audience can hear what people like John terry say during a game to the officials. It won't happen of course. It would be an immediate disaster.

yes but this wasnt the case the supposed remark wasnt even heard by mikel and 4 others closer than ramires who hardly speaks english. a small delay in wading forward throw complaints into public would have been a much better way forward and not seemed like sour grapes.
there was also the spanish abuse allegation which was subsequently withdrawn as no evidence available.

See my previous post about lost in translation etc and about timings of the complaint by Chelsea FC. I believe that the referee said nothing at all in the way of any type of abuse to Mikel or another Chelsea player. I believe that Ramires completley misheard something as his English is terrible and then put the seed into Mikels head. The proper thing to of done would of been for Mikel to go and see Ron Gourlay and pass on his complaint the day after and for it to be dealt with that way rather than bursting into the officials room shouting his head off. Chelsea FC were guilty of nothing more than being too sharp to act on the complaint.

indeed Imurg. It was not the best way by Chelsea and there million pound lawyers to deal with it. I would rather of had them deal with it though than Mikel going to the papers saying Chelsea do not protect their ethnic footballers etc and the FA taking actions against the club itself for failing to act.

Take off your blinkers.

I would consider myself an "old school" Chelsea supporter, started in the 70s..blah blah blah
Chelsea really want their cake and eat it. Now they are shouting due process when they turn a blind eye to one of their "star players" taking a loaded weapon into work and shooting a junior member of staff. CAn you image if that happened a at one our our places of work, out straight away with a prosecution looming. This is just one the the issues I am sick and tired of hearing about the club I used to adore. When Chelsea finally grow up (new breed look to be much better) hopefully we can put this behind us and I can start taking my kids to see them with pride.
