Apparently banned from the upcoming Dunhill Links for having a 'suspect' handicap last year.

Always a difficult one. There is one person I know who wins most of the corporate golf days he enters who has a highly suspect handicap and there are always mutterings of discontent but short of accusing someone of being a cheat and a liar what can you do?

He doesn't exactly deny it does he? If that were me and I'd just been accused so publicly of banditry with no foundation I don't think I'd be so relaxed about it.

Would you be speaking to solicitors about a sullied reputation?

I know I would (... If it weren't true)

Bit strange for it to come out 9 months AFTER the event. He was invited to play, why did they not bother to get the facts straight before playing?

Anyway turns out they only one by 3 shots and were still 4 shots off the competition record !!

Apparantly he was getting gross pars when Dougherty was getting bogies?

Anyone could have predicted that last year!

think he shot a 74 and 76 during the 4 rounds hardly the highest order of banditry off 10?
whether there more to it than meets the eye but surely all participating celebs still need an active handicap, and if thats if the case dont see how they can impose a band on handicap grounds?

I think that the amateurs were off 2/3 of their handicap - so his 15 becomes 10.

If true then does seem suspicious pair of scores, if not then he has been hard done by.

Just shows you how a misreporting by the media could change a whole stories perspective...

Surely to play in a competition that large and famous he has to have an active handicap at a a club, and surely this can be checked?
It's not like he can rock up and claim to play off 24 or is it?

I'm not a fan of Evans but the ban does seem a bit harsh as how can you proove or disproove somebody handicap.I think he genuinely does play of a 10 but happened to put in a few good rounds in tournament play and that happens to every golfer with a handicap. The fact that Evans did it at a Euro tour event was his misfortune as the anti bandit doubters are in full force!
