this is deadly serious and golf-related at least to me.
My preference for a mid-round snack is a chunky kit-kat FUNSIZE. This is a single finger Kitkat that's smaller than a regular chunky (too much for me!)but chunkier than the a two-finger variety. sadly they are no longer available in my local Sainsbury and other varieties just aren't the same.
I thought you might like to advise me of your favourite on-course chocolate treat Please note
1. In view of the current state of my golf this is usually the highight of the round.
2. I know you're all much too polite to indulge in any of the double entendres which I can suddenly see looming from this post. :o
and another question - when do you indulge? - I find the 12th is about right for an energy boost but on bad days I need it a lot sooner!
If there's any consensus on either question I shall doubtless record on the (somewhat neglected ) blog.
Cheers!

Gotta be Jaffa Cakes for me (are they a cake or biscuit?)all those carbs keep me going and are well tasty.

For me it has to be the Twix if I am feeling healthy (after all the biscuit bit must have some grain in it and thus be classed as a health food) or a good old mars bar if I need energy, feel tired or am simply hungover.

Best of all thought is that I have an old fashioned sweet shop nearby so normally have a quarter of sour apples or cola cubes stashed in the bag somewhere.

HTL, if you want the boring legal definition based on a case about taxation, the jaffa cake is, in fact, really a cake. The legal definition is that a cake goes hard when stale whereas a biscuit goes soft.

I drink either water or powerade all the way round sipping while I dander up the fairways after my drive. I usually try to keep away from chocolate now as im on an improved health bender. However, I do take a kelloggs nutrigrain bar that I eat between the 9th and 10th holes usually. Sipping the water or juice usually keeps the fluid levels up and the little nibble on the 10th tee keeps the munchies at bay.

Oh, the way to go is a biscuit "BOOST". Just before you hit a glorious draw to a 176 yd par 3, only to discover that the pin is cut "temporary" short of the front edge.....(or was that the nicotine rush?)

dave3498 favours the old classic "tunnocks" wafer. I placed one of these on my bag by the 7th (?) at Llangollen, only to rush to find my ball, lose it (the wafer), and feel the need to search for it about 10 holes later!!!

http://www.tunnocks.co.uk/

surely a favourite of those north of the border!!!

t.b.h. any choccy is good, hence the interest in the Wednesday weigh in. "Kit-kat.....so much nicer after a 150 yd rapier to the green"......I should take up ad slogans as a career!!!

Who knows..when does a wafer become a bar?, when does a bar become a cake?......when does a cake become a biscuit?......oh, the perils of modern golfing.... :D

Ali....I know you girlies have to watch for the old calorie intake, but "funsize" is definately a mis-speak (according to "lady" Clinton). What's fun about something 10% of the ideal size.

Otherwise, good call, if we meet up to play golf, I guess the homemade brownies are out of the question....?.....

Mars bar, 2 a day. every day. I love them. We used to get them for breakfast in the marines.

Funny this posts is up because today i was dying to rip into me mars bar by about the 6th and i thought its too early. When is the right time. I decided the 9th was about right but then thought the longer i left it the nicer it would be, Only managed to get to the 11th.

Swig from the water bottle every other hole - dehydration, even in small amounts, can have a massive impact.

Food wise, always a banana if I have them in. Nothing beats them for what they provide. Usually eaten around the 9th/10th.

If no banany, then there will be some flapjack for the oaty carbs and sustenance. If this is the case, a chunk every 3-4 holes.

If all else fails and I forget food or suddenly think I'll need it (I don't always take food as I don't find it necessary), then the king of all chocolates for this has to be the Mars bar. Had one in the bag on Monday and it was so cold that it had gone from regular softness to being harder than if it had just come from a fridge!

Fluid intake on course is more important than food, but if you do find yourself needing food, there really is no substitute for nature's bounty.

I know, I know, I'm the barking minority on this!

I'll eat whatever I happen to throw in my bag before I leave the house, but will always take an orange lucozade sport with me. Usually eat something around the 9th hole or when I get hungry/thirsty.

I came across a new choclatey thing the other day and it may be making it's way into my bag..

It's an Aero bar.....with caramel inside.

I'll say that again. An Aero bar with cara......

Back in a mo'. I'm away down the 24 hour shop.

Oh why must you tempt me and mock me so. I use to drink Lucozade or Powerade and nibble on fruit bars. Since being diagnosed with diabetes these "treats" have had to go by the wayside.

I am allowed bananas (but they are high in natural sugars so have to eat them pretty green). Not allowed anything like jaffa cakes. I thought about raisins but they are also on my list of things to be avoided.

As such I'm really struggling on the course. I'm drinking loads of water which keeps me hydrated but struggling to find something to nibble on for that extra boost.

Any suggestions?
