Had the final one of my short game lessons today on chipping. I thought I was an OK chipper with an overactive wristy action which was causing my inconsistancy but boy what a video nasty when I saw it especially down the line.

Significant set up changes including a much stronger left hand grip, modifications to my address set up and ball position and looking for a shallower swing. Took some getting use to but boy - HAPPY DAYS and was getting most of them close enough to single putt.

We even had time to play around with outrageous flops shots with the 60 degree and it has given me a new found confidence. Went to RA tonight and put it into practice and was hitting it like a dream with a variety of clubs and different lies.

No more lessons in the pipeline unless my swing heads south and I need a major fix. Already decided between my coach and I that swing tempo is the major project for the winter to try and get it down from a tornado to just a whirling blur (check my videos out on here to see how fast it is!!)

But were they close enough for a HTL gimme? You will be dangerous when your chipping starts clicking mate!

Get your tempo smooth and stop the bobbing in your swing and I aint playing you for money for a long time!

Tempo is the work for the winter and the bobbing is getting better now my swing is much shorter and I'm able to get through easier without getting the club trapped. Just turned my left foot slightly open at address and hey presto - more room to swing and a shorted and more powerful swing. You saw last Sunday how much more consistant the ball striking was. Add in a stronger short game and my putting that is much more reliable and I'm ready to hit 10 and lower before the summer is out.

HTL your course looks really nice ,checked it out thru your link but the Annual Subs are crazy £1700 .

Welcome to Surrey! And its one of the best value for money courses in the area! For the amount of time I spend there and rounds I play I get my moneys worth. However for some who only play once a week its a ridiculous amount.

Homer, I have been looking at my Chipping, as is one of the places I could save shots, getting it closer would help those 2 putts become 1.

I have not had a Lesson for a few years now, so maybe time to sort out the short game ;)
