Hello all,

I'm after some advice, I'm heading of to Portugal (Lisbon) in a fortnight and was wondering what's the cheapest way to get some golf in?
Do you have any websites that can pre-book rounds at courses to get favourable rates?
Any recommendations of good value courses near Lisbon?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Mate,
I'm not sure about the Lisbon area btu I stopped in Ferragudo 3 weeks and got a couple of rounds in at Gramacho. The pricing structure was very strange.
I went to the course a few times though the day and it was dead, I couldn't see a sole on the course and when I enquired about the prices I foudn out why. They wanted 95euro's each plus 40euros for the buggies, I was then told by the lovelty young girl that the twighlight is much cheaper. For a 2 ball including buggie the total cost was 82euros. I couldn't beleive the difference and why they didn;t offer a price deal through the day. As for best websites, I'd wait till you get there and see what courses are near you then either visit them or ring them. I doubt an agent will be able to you a cheaper price than what you can get. Nobody's playing so I can't see times being a problem.

Hope that helps

I'd be interested in some information for around Albufeira area. I'm out there in September and would like to know the best and cheapest way to play.

You won't find the courses around Albufeira cheap I'm sorry.
But one of the best ones to play is Quinta Do Lago "Rio Formosa". It's superb. Likely to cost you about £80.00 a pop though unless they're doing a cheap twi-light round.

Dunno about cheapest but Aroeira, south of Lisbon has 36 holes and is very good. Troia is a bit further south near Setubal, and ia a fearsome links. Great course but tough.

September and your fecked am afraid. We are just back and the golf deals run June/July & August and there are some cracking deals to be had.

We got Faldo and O'Connor for £110 incl Buggies,Morgado for a steal of 35 euro incl buggy and Vilamoura Old for £50 incl buggy.

Quinta Do Lago were wanting 95 euro with a buggy on top so expect to pay alot more come September.

Best price you will get around Albufeira will be at Salgados but it is priced low for a reason....it is a hole.

Can anyone who has played out there give me an indication of dress code? I already know they'll let me play in trainers as I'm not bringing my golf equipment over but will they be ok with cargo shorts and a polo shirt?
